Luke Everett is an assistant professor of law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. Professor Everett graduated with honors (Order of the Coif) from the University of North Caroline at Chapel Hill School of Law in 2008 and returned in 2011 to teach first year Research, Reasoning, Writing, and Advocacy. After graduation, he served as managing partner of Everett & Everett. He has practiced in many areas, including civil litigation, trusts and estates, federal securities fraud, small business guidance, family law, and state administrative matters. He has handled trial and appellate cases in the North Carolina courts, as well as appearing in federal circuit, district, and bankruptcy courts. Along with teaching at the law school, Professor Everett regularly works with practicing lawyers on legal writing. In 2012 and 2013, he held workshops for every office of Legal Aid of North Carolina. He has also taught a number of CLE classes, including a webcast for the North Carolina Bar Association. Professor Everett writes a regular column for the newsletter of the Solo, Small Firm, and General Practice division of the Bar Association. Before attending law school, Professor Everett graduated cum laude from Duke University and received a Master's of Arts in Teaching from UNC-Chapel Hill.
