Hess joined Indiana University School of Medicine in 2013 as its 10th dean. He leads the largest medical school in the United States, with nine campuses and approximately 11,000 faculty, staff and learners throughout Indiana. During his tenure, he has overseen a doubling in research funding from the National Institutes of Health, led the school through a comprehensive curriculum reform, and strengthened the relationship with IU Health, the school's primary clinical partner and one of the nation's premier academic medical centers.
Jay L. Hess, MD, PhD, MHSA, is the 10th dean of Indiana University School of Medicine. A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Hess is a hematopathologist and one of the nation's leading researchers in the epigenetics of leukemia. As dean, he has led the nine-campus medical school through a curriculum overhaul and made strategic investments in research that have resulted in a dramatic increase in NIH funding and the availability of advanced therapies for residents of Indiana.

Dr. Padma Portonovo is the Director of Indiana University School of Medicine research core services and the Think Tank Navigator for the Indiana Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute (Indiana CTSI). Her role within the core services is to manage the centralized core facilities' strategic, administrative, marketing and business affairs at the School of Medicine. She also provides strategic and operational leadership to core facility managers and staff to ensure individual core facilities' efficient day-to-day operations. She works with each of the core directors to review processes, rates, advise on issues, and contribute to strategic planning, updating business plans and financial plans for each core.
Through her role with Indiana CTSI, Dr. Portonovo oversees the Indiana Center for Biomedical Innovation that houses the startup companies at IU Health Methodist Hospital. Schug is a member of the Public Affairs and Marketing Network (PAMN), which is composed of cancer centers designated by the NCI or that are members of the Association of American Cancer Institutes. Paul M. Wallach, MD, a nationally recognized leader in academic medicine, was named executive associate dean of educational affairs and institutional improvement for Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Wallach was previously vice dean for academic affairs and professor of medicine for Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. In his prior role, Dr. Wallach oversaw education and student programs for the medical school. Having served on national boards and providing leadership to professional licensure, accreditation, and test developed and governance activities for more than 20 years, Dr. Wallach is highly regarded for his expertise in both instructional design and evaluation.

Tim is a graduate of Herron School of Art and holds a bachelor degree in fine arts with a major in visual communication. After graduating, he began working for the Indianapolis Center for Advanced Research (ICFAR) - an affiliate of IU, Purdue, City of Indianapolis and the Indy Chamber of Commerce - where he served as as a graphic designer, photographer and illustrator for seven years. He then began his own freelance design business in Indianapolis and spent a decade working with a variety of clients, including Howard S. Wilcox, Sease Gerig & Associates, Ivy Tech, Riley Children's Foundation, Indianapolis Public Library and Fairbanks Hospital. Tim returned to IU as a graphic designer and photographer in the IU School of Medicine Office of Visual Media. In his current role, he works with faculty and departmental leaders to provide photography for communications and fundraising materials. He also served for three years as an adjunct professor teaching third- and- fourth-year medical students introduction to medical illustration, photography and Adobe Creative Suite.
