TEXTILE RECYCLING - Key Persons
As well as being the CEO of the Textile Recycling Association Alan Wheeler also holds the official position within the Bureau of International Recycling as the textiles division's General Delegate.
As a spokesperson for the industry he is regularly interviewed by the broadcast and print media in the UK and other parts of the world. Through his role, he sat on the advisory group of the Sustainable Clothing Action Plan and the European Clothing Action Plan. Going forward Alan will also be taking an active role in the new voluntary Textiles 2030 initiative which is set to be launched in Spring 2021. He is also an experienced presenter and panelist and has chaired numerous sustainable textile events and meetings throughout the world, including the first ever international textile recycling conference which took place in Miami in 2014.
He is also an experienced lobbyist and been called to give evidence to a number of parliamentary committees, facilitate meetings within parliament and give presentations to cross party parliamentary groups

Alison Carey is the Director of Chris Carey's Collections Ltd. With over 25 years' experience in the Textile Recycling Industry, Alison has also worked as a Commercial Manager for a Waste Management Company where she was responsible that the capacity was met during the commissioning stage of their new EfW plant and throughout the plants official opening and beyond. With her key areas of expertise being Waste Industry Legislation, Operations and Shipping and Freight Forwarding, Alison surprises us with a full pack of having both HGV and forklift licenses and is also a qualified Milliner and Costume Designer.

Dawn Dungate is President of the TRA and Director of Operations for East London Textiles Ltd., responsible for the strategic planning and the day to day operations. Having worked in Retail and Transport industries and being qualified in Retail Management, Transport Management, Health & Safety and HR to name a few areas, Dawn moved across to work in the used textiles industry in 2010, and has developed a wealth of knowledge which she now uses to support the Charity Sector and Textiles Recycling Industry.
After receiving a first-class degree in Business studies at Sheffield Hallam University, Danny joined the team at Donald Ward Ltd within the textile division where he has worked up from the shop floor to being operations manager.

Helen has 30 years experience within the clothing and wiping cloth industry. BA Hons Degree in Business Studies and Marketing.

Working for the family waste management business, Roberts Recycling, from the age of sixteen, John has been involved in textile recycling since finishing an accountancy degree in 2009. His focus is on implementing systems of accountability, transparency, and traceability in the textile industry.
Kirk has worked in the textile reuse and recycling business for over 8 years, working with some of the largest corporate business in the retail sector and many local authorities. His background before this was in the private sector where he held senior roles with the likes of O2 and PHS Group.
His key area of expertise is Sales and Account Management. He is also a qualified Beekeeper.

Marc Ratzker is the Managing Director for Coppermill Ltd, and has been working in the industry for over 20 years now after having worked in the Marketing and Advertising business. The owner of a BA(HONS) Business Studies DIPM in Marketing, his key areas of expertise are recycling other non-recycling textiles and finding textiles recycling solutions.

Mohammed has a background in the textile recycling industry, having gained over 16 years working in a family owned used clothing, collecting, processing, grading and exporting business.
He has a very in depth knowledge of the used textiles sector, having worked with councils, schools and charity shops.
Mohammed's key strength is the ability to think outside the box, to and bring stakeholders together towards a common goal.

Peter has been in the textile industry for 15 years. Throughout his long career not only gained extensive experience and knowledge in all aspects of textile recyling but also government legislation. Peter has a degree in sustainable waste management and holds Certificates of Technical Competence (COTC) in both non hazardous waste and road haulage.
