Dr. Andrew Wong

Dr. Andrew C.E. Wong received his Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees at the University of Alberta. He then completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto prior to obtaining his Master's degree and Diploma in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of British Columbia. Through dental school and GPR, he developed a passion for pediatric dentistry and working with children; treating both pediatric patients and those with special needs. During his dental training, he received multiple awards: Arthur D. Cumming Medal for outstanding merit in children's dentistry, Dr. W. Scott Hamilton Oral Surgery Award, Edmonton District Dental Society Student Award, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy Student Dental Research Award. During his specialty training, he received the Dr. Keith Titley Pediatric Dentistry Graduate Training Scholarship awarded by the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry for academic achievement, research and extracurricular/community involvement. Dr. Wong is currently a certified specialist in pediatric dentistry and received his fellowship in pediatric dentistry from the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He is a member of the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is a clinical instructor/lecturer in pediatric dentistry at the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. In addition, he serves as the pediatric dentistry representative to the Alberta Society of Dental Specialists, he is on the board of Directors for the Edmonton District Dental Society and he maintains privileges at the Alberta Surgical Centre and the Stollery Children's Hospital. Dr. Wong is an avid golfer, badminton player and sports enthusiast. He was born and raised in Edmonton and is very happy to be back in his hometown.

Dr. Zahra A. Kurji

Dr. Zahra A. Kurji is a certified specialist in pediatric dentistry, a fellow of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Canada and is a member of the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (CAPD) and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD). Dr. Kurji obtained her Master of Science in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Toronto. She completed a Bachelor of Science (Microbiology) and Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. She then completed a one-year hospital residency (GPR) at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. During her dental schooling, Dr. Kurji was a recipient of numerous awards; Saskatchewan Chapter for Children Award (2003), Award from the American Academy of Oro-Facial Pain (2003), Award from American Academy of Periodontology (2003), Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Periodontology (2003), W. A. Cotter Award (2002) and the Dr. Kirk Johnston Memorial Award (2001). Dr. Kurji enjoyed general dental practice for three years in Saskatoon. Her interest in pediatric oral health and in the treatment of individuals with special needs led her to pursue specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Toronto. During her pediatric residency, Dr. Kurji attained the top prize for her research presentation at the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (2008) and first prize at the 2009 Research Day at the University of Toronto. Dr. Kurji has been practising in Edmonton since September of 2009, and taught at the University of Alberta from 2009-2015. She was the Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry from 2010-2014, and an Executive Member of the Edmonton and District Dental Society from 2011-2014. Currently, Dr. Kurji is a member of the Hospital Dentistry Committee. Dr. Kurji has been a presenter at the Pediatric Medicine Update Conference in Edmonton and Keynote speaker at the White Coat Ceremony at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Kurji has published her research in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Publication, Pediatric Dentistry. Since 2009, Dr. Kurji has held privileges at the Stollery Children's Hospital and the Alberta Surgical Centre. Dr. Kurji loves the snow in spite of growing up in a hot climate and lives in Edmonton with her husband, Jordan.
