Joan Cagney

Joan brings a wide range of expertise to our consulting and project management assignments. In addition to hands on fundraising experience at all levels, she is a specialist in brand and communications strategies which support fundraising, as well as charity management, finance, governance and compliance. Joan has made valuable contributions to the delivery of outstanding fundraising results for the Library of Birmingham Trust, the Police Arboretum Memorial Trust and Birmingham City University.

Morgen Rasmussen - Founder

As co-founder, Morgen brought to the MTL team over 36 years of experience as a fundraiser and consultant in the higher education, arts, culture, and health sectors. He served in senior development positions for American universities and arts organisations, including St John's University and the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.

Robert Astick

Robert has been a fundraising professional since 1993, in both in-house and consultant roles, following a successful military career. He is a seasoned manager of capital fundraising campaigns and revenue programmes for often challenging projects. Robert has demonstrated success in areas such as Major Gifts, Corporate Donations and Trusts and Foundations (including Lottery and EU Funding) applications. He is also a seasoned practitioner in revenue fundraising and has extensive experience in events organisation, legacy campaigning, national draw competitions and direct mail and telephone. His fundraising record has shown consistent success with many millions of pounds raised for a wide variety of causes including Higher Education, International Development, healthcare and disability and the arts.

Robin Thomas - CEO

Over 20 years, Robin has built a substantial track record, delivering large and challenging fundraising targets for a wide variety of projects for healthcare, education, government, arts, faith, corporate organisations. As a fundraising professional he has extensive experience as both a senior executive for major charities and as a consultant to the non-profit sector. Prior to co-founding MTL, Robin worked in senior management and board positions with fundraising and management consultancies in North America and the UK. He has made valuable contributions to charities in the USA, Canada, the Middle East, Germany, India, Australia, South Africa and Britain. Robin was amongst the first UK professionals to be granted the international credential of Certified Fund Raising Executive and has served as Board Member of the Association of Fundraising Consultants.

Stewart Boutcher

Stewart helps charities to support their missions, engage and fundraise in a digital age. With more than 20 years experience in IT, software, marketing and communications, he works with organisations who wish to use digital technologies to deliver services better, more effectively communicate their messages and values to their audiences and inspire financial support. Stewart's background is in software, working at Senior Developer, Project Manager & CTO levels in a number of entrepreneurial organisations before crossing over into digital business strategy and delivery. He has a proven track record in utilising technology to build innovative, useful solutions which drive audience engagement and fundraising. He delivers coherent, measurable digital strategies which incorporate modern channels such as social media and mobile applications, using gamification principles for more effective user engagement strategies. Stewart also leads our work in developing and improving fundraising CRM systems, analytics and performance measurement.
