Stephen Phillips

A true veteran of the IT industry, Stephen studied Computer Science at Melbourne University in Australia and qualified in 1981. A varied career over the next few years saw Stephen participating in all aspects of system design and development. In the early part of his career, Stephen worked for the State Public Service in Victoria, Australia in a number of varied roles. One of the most interesting pieces of work he tackled was in 1986 when he had sole responsibility for designing and developing a PC-based Life Insurance system. In 1987 he joined MicroHelp Computers and Communications in a consulting role. Here he developed a property valuation system for a firm of Real Estate valuers. In 1988 he returned to the State Insurance Office to enhance the Life Insurance system he had developed. Software he worked on in the early part of his career includes: Burroughs (Unisys) COBOL and DMSII Database Microsoft COBOL Z80 Assembly Language C Prime Information (Pick) Oracle In 1994 Stephen relocated to the UK and since then has worked exclusively in Oracle. He has had unbeatable experience in SQL, PL/SQL, schema design, interface development and many other areas. Stephen is a true all-rounder, he has written extensive documentation using Oracle AIM standards, he has designed Payroll Elements and Fast Formulas, he has designed Data Migration suites and he has conducted lectures for senior management. He is recognised as an outstanding professional by his colleagues. In 2004 Stephen added a Master's degree to his qualifications when he completed a dissertation on Artificial Intelligence at the Open University. Stephen holds the prestigious CITP level membership with the BCS and is also a member of the Professional Contractors' Group.
