John Trotter

Job Titles:
  • Director
John is ex Capper Neal International. He has been designing tanks since he got his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Leeds University. Since working at Dixons he has designed hundreds of storage tanks, pressure vessels and heat exchangers. He is responsible for the FEA having started with Main Frame ANSYS over 30 years ago and gone on to use Algor software which became Autodesk Simulation. He has written most of the design programs that are used in house. John took over running the business when Malcolm retired. He is now the majority shareholder. John is a member of the BSI committee for storage tanks and has taken on an active role in the development of BS EN 14015.

Lee Witherington

Job Titles:
  • Mechanical Designer / Draughtsman
Lee started his career with us way back in the 1989! He left and went to work for AMEC tankage and Land & Marine before re-joining us in 2009. He has extensive site experience as well as many years using AutoCAD products. He is our 3D guru using Inventor. He takes on most of our steelwork jobs, skids, as well as tankage. He takes on the project management role for the contracts he looks after.

Tim Bell MEng

Job Titles:
  • Mechanical Design Engineer
Tim joined JMD at the beginning of 2023 to assist primarily with the design calculations and stress analysis of pressure vessels. Previously Tim had spent 9 years working as project engineer for a well known manufacturer of hydraulic power equipment where he was involved with the design of piston accumulators and other bespoke high pressure vessels. Tim graduated in 2014 with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering (MEng) and is currently working towards Chartered status (CEng).
