Hamilton & Thornyhill Curling Club is one of Scotland's oldest surviving clubs, the original Hamilton club having been founded in 1777. The club plays its games at Lanarkshire Ice Rink in Hamilton which was built in 1967. Prior to that, the club's indoor games were played at the long gone Crossmyloof Ice Rink on the south side of Glasgow. As you might surmise from the name, the present club is actually an amalgamation of two older clubs, Hamilton Curling Club based in the town itself and Thornyhill Curling Club which was based near the village of Quarter, just south of the town of Hamilton. The two joined forces in 1931... Nowadays the club is one of the largest in the Lanarkshire Province of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club with around 70 regular playing members as well as some non-playing members. We are a mixed club with two main league competitions played throughout the season - the Gold Medal which is generally played on Mondays at 5.45pm and the Aikman Cup which is generally on..
