Alison Calder

Alison is a tenant from South Ayrshire and joined the Board in 2022. She graduated from Caledonian University with an honours degree in marketing when she had just turned 50 and currently works as a Training Manager. Alison wanted to join the board so she could contribute to WSHA from a tenants perspective. Alison joined the board in June 2022.

Andrew Kubski

Andrew is a Chartered Surveyor with over 20 years' experience in both the commercial and residential property markets. As well as working in the development sector, he worked as a consultant to a number of private sector property investors and developers including majors such as Standard Life, M&G, CBRE Global Investors. He joined WSHA from Sanctuary Homes where he was responsible for the securing the sites to feed the Group's demanding mixed tenure residential development programme. Prior to this he worked in the public sector with City Property (Glasgow) LLP where he was Manager of Development Services and delivered some high profile development transactions including Park Quadrant in the city's prestigious Park Area. In the private sector he has worked with a number of property consultancies including Savills, James Barr, and more latterly, was a Partner at Drivers Jonas, prior to it being acquired by Deloitte.

Ann Reid

Job Titles:

Ann has been a member of the Board since 2012. She has also been an active member of the Tenant Advisory Group since 2008 which she joined to represent her local community and help to get the best service for tenants. She is passionate about getting involved and ensuring tenants have a voice within the Association. Before retiring, Ann was a Nursing Auxiliary and now spends time as a parent helper at her local school.

Barbara McGarrie

Barbara is a WSHA tenant in Fernhill, South Lanarkshire. Barbara is retired after working as a hairdresser and social worker. She has also volunteered with various local charities including CHAS and Citizens Advice Bureau. She is keen to be involved and contribute to the Board to make a difference in tenants' lives. Barbara joined the Board in August 2023.

Brian Gannon - CEO

Brian has been Chief Executive of West of Scotland Housing Association since September 2019. Brian is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and has a Postgraduate Diploma in Housing. He has over 30 years of experience in social housing working at a range of large and small housing associations and a local authority. He has particular experience in stock transfers, community regeneration, digital transformation and carbon reduction strategies.

Donna Paton - CFO

Donna began her accountancy career working as a Management Accounts Assistant with British Aerospace, before moving to the Scottish Legal Aid Board where she studied towards her ACCA Chartered Accounting qualification. She then took up a Finance Officer role within Trust Housing Association, where she gained her ACCA qualification and progressed to Finance Operations Manager, then to Head of Finance. A brief spell was then spent within the commercial sector, before moving back into the housing sector taking up the post of Group Head of Finance at Cairn Housing Association.

Elaine Davidson

Elaine has been involved with the Board since 2010. She was an observer until 2013 when she became a full member. She has been chair of the Tenant Advisory Group since 2006 and got involved in the Association through a neighbour. Elaine is committed to improving services for fellow tenants.

George Kpodo

George is a tenant in East Glasgow and is currently employed as a Health & Safety Officer. He is also a leader in his local church on a voluntary basis. George is passionate about his community and feels that this is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping direction and services for tenants. George joined the board in September 2019.

Jennifer Cairns

Jennifer has worked for West of Scotland Housing Association since April 2014, she started in post as Corporate Services Manager and became Director of Corporate Services in May 2020. Prior to joining WSHA she worked for 12 years with Turning Point Scotland in various administration roles but latterly as Corporate Services Manager. She has vast experience in relation to governance, risk management and data management. Her areas of responsibility currently include Risk Management, Procurement, HR, Customer Engagement, Governance and PR & Communications.

Karen Merz

Karen is a tenant in the Charing Cross area of Glasgow. Karen was formerly a tenant of Charing Cross Housing Association and transferred to WSHA as a tenant in August last year as part of the transfer of engagements. Karen has been involved in the Woodlands and Garnethill Residents Group which was established following the transfer of engagements and is keen to become further involved on the WSHA Board. Karen joined the Board in August 2023.

Kelly Adams - Chairman

Kelly has been a member of the WSHA Board since October 2015 and was also appointed to the Audit Committee in February 2016. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and an Audit Partner with RSM in Glasgow, heading up the not-for-profit services. Kelly has been heavily involved in the housing sector as part of her career for over 15 years and she joined our Board as she was looking for a varied and challenging appointment that would allow her to use her skills and expertise in accounting and finance to make a difference.

Kenneth Fee

Ken lives in North Lanarkshire and currently works with Scottish Canals as Head of People. He has significant experience of HR and business development, knowledge of governance, strategy and the charity sector. He appreciates the role of the RSL sector as having a great impact on society and is delighted to play a small part in that. Ken joined the board in September 2021.

Michael Sozansky

Michael lives in East Kilbride and recently retired this year. Previously he was Head of Compliance with Ofgem. He has significant experience in leadership and governance and has previously being involved in tutoring for literacy programmes in his own time in both the UK and the USA. He wants to become involved in WSHA as he is drawn to being a champion for customers and wants to contribute towards creating a more balanced and equitable society and feels becoming involved in WSHA would support this. Michael joined the board in September 2021.

Nick Farrell

Nick is a Company Director for Nick Farrell& Company Ltd, a Surveyors & Valuers based in Glasgow. He is a qualified Surveyor and has exprience in commercial and residential property as well as residential development, mixed use investment, asset management and value engineering assets and new developments. Nick joined the Board in May 2019.

Nicola Wason

Nicola is a tenant in Prestwick and has been a WSHA tenant for over 30 years. Nicola currently works at Prestwick airport and has also been involved in volunteering with the guides and brownies and as a befriender. Being a tenant for over 30 years, Nicola has good knowledgte of the Association and she is a great listender and has good problem solving skills. Nicola joined the Board in August 2023.

Paul MacNeil

Paul has been a tenant in South Glasgow for over 30 years andis currentlh studying for a Diploma in Writing for Business and has experience of marketing and also management experience. Paul thinks it is important that tenant's views are part of WSHA's decision making. Paul joined the Board in October 2019.

Paul McCandlish

Paul lives in Glasgow and is a qualified practicing solicitor within Local Government. He has extensive public sector experience and has been heavily involved with social housing throughout my career. Paul is passionate about housing issues and is interested in the role WSHA plays for its customers and wants to use his skills and expertise to make a difference. Paul joined the board in November 2022.

Robert Campbell

Robert is a law graduate and member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. He has worked in housing for over 30 years and has held various roles with both local authorities and the Housing Association sector. Starting his career with Inverclyde Council he eventually managed an area office looking after all front line services including maintenance, reinvestment, housing management and customer services. Moving to Argyll & Bute Council he became the Assistant Area Manager managing front line services including Homelessness, Welfare Rights and Housing Benefit, Travelling Persons services and Housing Management. For the last 15 years he has been the Housing Manager with Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association and led, among other things, the Housing Management operations for a £60m, 10 year regeneration project in Anderston, Glasgow. His last role before moving to WSHA was to project manage the transfer of engagements of another Housing Association into Sanctuary Group.
