In fact, I justifiably claim to have the only surviving genuine recipe for the Selkirk Bannock. Alex Dalgetty worked for the inventor of the Selkirk Bannock, a baker named Robert Douglas from Selkirk. Alex left to set up his own bakery in Galashiels around the late 1800's and brought the recipe with him. Dalgetty's have been making them to this recipe ever since... Alex Dalgetty & Sons is a fifth generation artisan bakery based in Galashiels, in the heart of the Scottish Borders.
