Adam McDowell

I graduated from Heriot Watt University in 2010, having studied Accountancy and Finance. I became a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 2014 while training with a firm in Belfast. I gained experience in all aspects of accountancy, focusing mainly on accounts preparation, taxation and audit. I joined HMW in 2015 to take the next step in my career and was appointed as director in October 2019. I look after a diverse range of clients with a particular focus on the engineering and manufacturing sectors. Having recently become a new dad, I do not have a lot of spare time! When I do, I enjoy going to the gym and attending gigs and music festivals as often as possible. I am told I have questionable taste in music; my favourite song is Two Months Off by Underworld. My family is my proudest achievement. I am happiest when on holiday or weekends away with them; the North Coast is hard to beat!

Adam Warnock

My name is Adam Warnock and I began working for Hamilton Morris Waugh in July 2021. After studying agriculture in Reaseheath College in Cheshire and then working on my family dairy farm for 7 years, I decided to make a career change into accountancy. I have already gained a wide range of experience at HMW and am thoroughly enjoying working for the company. I am working towards becoming a fully qualified accountant. I enjoy spending time with my wife, Olivia, and our family and friends. I love to spend time playing golf. I am also a keen rugby fan, and particularly enjoy going to watch Ulster play. When not doing these things, I am busy trying to renovate our house, going to the gym and I also enjoy hiking up the Mournes.

Callum Porter

My name is Callum Porter. I am a Trainee Accountant. I went to Regent House and then to South Eastern Regional College in Bangor to do an Accounting Technician course to further my education as I did not want to go to university. Currently, I am doing the first year of the Chartered Accountancy course with Chartered Accountants Ireland I have quite an interest in Ancient History, in particular, Greece. Visiting the ancient sites in Athens is at the top of my bucket list. I am also a big football fan, supporting the biggest club in London, Arsenal! I have been a fan of the Gunners' all my life with my favourite ever player being a close call between Thierry Henry and Santi Cazorla. I am excited to see what the future has in store for me and my future at Hamilton Morris

Gemma Donaghy

After completing a maths degree at Queen's University Belfast, I began my career as an accountant with an accountancy firm in Belfast. My role in this firm allowed me to gain a wide range of experience in VAT preparation, accounts, audit and tax. I worked with various clients from sole-traders to larger companies and charities. As this company was a training firm, I gained invaluable experience in training junior members of staff. I completed my training and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in November 2015. In February 2017, I started in Hamilton Morris Waugh as a client manager. I have my own client base, to which I am the first point of contact. I love having this contact with my clients and building a good rapport with them. My clients know that I'm only a phonecall or email away! I complete any work required, from accounts, VAT returns, tax returns to queries about cloud software such as Xero. When I'm not working hard on my clients accounts and tax returns, there is often some friendly banter going on in the office, normally at my expense! When I'm not in work, I'm a proud mum of two girls, Antonia and Georgia. We enjoy trips to the caravan at the North Coast.

Jade Clarke

My name is Jade Clarke and I am a Trainee Chartered Accountant at Hamilton Morris Waugh, studying towards a CAI qualification. I work on a range of accountancy practises including Vat, Tax and Year End Accounts. Before I started here, I completed an undergraduate degree in Accounting with Ulster University, achieving a First-Class Honours. I am excited to see what adventures wait in the future and what Hamilton Morris Waugh has in store for me!

I had worked for Briggs Accountancy, a local firm for over 14 years and upon Mr Briggs retirement, both myself and clients of the practice moved across to HMW.

Jill Skipp

Jill Skipp joined Hamilton Morris Waugh in 2012 after previously working in the shipping industry for 20 years and currently works Tuesday - Thursday in the payroll department.

Lauren Taylor

After graduating from Dundee University with a degree in accountancy, I started a training contract with a small accountancy practice in Dundee. From there I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant with the ACCA and remained with the firm for 9 years. I then made the move back across the water in 2015 to take up an Account Manager position with HMW and was appointed as a director in October 2019. I look after a wide range of clients from sole traders through to larger limited companies and enjoy the high level of client contact that this brings. Most recently, I have been tasked with driving the change from desktop to cloud and ensuring that we support our clients the ever-changing environment that we operate in. I am an enthusiastic champion of Xero and have assisted many clients in their conversion from desktop accounting software. I am also responsible for the training of junior staff, ensuring that they are well looked after as they develop their accountancy skills and complete their qualifications.

Philip Nixon

I graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2014 with a Bachelors degree (BSc) in Accounting and Economics. After University, I took up a position with Grant Thornton before joining HMW in 2015. I successfully completed my final admittance examinations (FAE) in September 2018 and became a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland in 2020. At HMW, I manage a large portfolio of clients ranging from sole traders to large limited companies and charities over a number of different sectors. I am a progressive thinker, championing Xero accountancy software and focusing on helping to develop my clients businesses. I pride myself on having a great rapport with each of my clients and always being only a phonecall away!

Ryan Tully

Job Titles:

My name is Ryan Tully. I am a Chartered Accountant trainee. I went to Lagan College and I wanted to do undertake an apprenticeship programme to further my education as I did not want to go to university. I have already achieved my level 4 and level 5 diploma with Accounting Technicians Ireland. Currently, I'm working towards my FAEs with Chartered Accountants Ireland which I have my final exams for in August. I'm quite a sporty person. In my spare time, I like to take part in many sports and physical activities. I play a lot of golf and football in my spare time. I also go to the gym on a regular basis to work on my physical fitness and mental wellbeing. I play golf at the Holywood Golf Club and compete in local competitions for my club. In HMW, there is a golfing rivalry amongst a few of the employees including myself. Phil, Adam and I play golf frequently with a former colleague, Peter. We have played in numerous golf courses but the best course we've played is Ballyliffen Golf Course. I'm a huge Liverpool fan and have been to Anfield on numerous occasions to support the lads! I am excited to see what the future has in store for me and my future at Hamilton Morris Waugh!
