Alison Thorpe

Alison joined Horwood & James in 2006 and became a Partner in 2008. In over 20 years of private practice Alison's caseload has broadened to include commercial and agricultural property law including business leases and renewals, agricultural tenancies, residential site assembly and investment property.

David Hodges

David is a Residential Conveyancing Solicitor who qualified in 1995. Joining the firm's Property team, David brings a wealth of experience and expertise with him, in particular having extensive knowledge of residential developments in Aylesbury and the surrounding areas. David offers proficiency in all aspects of residential transactions acting for both sellers and buyers along with their lenders. David enjoys an excellent relationship with local agents who value his hands-on and pragmatic approach.

Diana Marin

Diana joined H&J in August 2018 as Office & Compliance Manager, having previously worked for a property development company in a similar role. Prior to this, Diana spent 12 years working in the financial sector after graduating the University with an honours degree in Finance and Banking. She has responsibility for a wide range of office related functions including building maintenance, Health & Safety, insurance, property management, project management, training, other administrative operations of the firm and is responsible for ensuring the practice remains compliant and that the requisite standards across the board are achieved to maintain our accreditations of which we are very proud. Outside of work Diana enjoys family time, holidays and dancing. Donnabelle Obiano

Greg Falcon

Greg joined the firm in 2013 as a trainee and on the successful completion of his training qualified as a Solicitor in 2015. Greg undertakes a broad spectrum of work in the probate department. He advises on Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Deputyship applications. Greg also deals with probate (both when there is a will and when one cannot be found) as well as advising in relation to contentious probate matters including claims against the validity of a will and claims by family members against an estate. Ian Partington

Ian is a senior associate solicitor in our Wills, Trusts and Probate team. He has over 30 years experience specialising in probate, tax planning, Wills and Powers of Attorney. He is also a member of the prestigious Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Ian handles a full range of private-client work, including probate, trusts, tax planning, and powers of attorney, dealing with a variety of estates from nominal values to multimillion-pound estates. He regularly deals with high-net-worth clients, complex estates, and he has acted for directors of a number household name companies. Ian offers up-to-date advice on tax planning with the aim of saving his clients as much money as he can by reducing their tax liability. He also offers a full Will service, advising on potential tax-saving ideas and preparations that can be made to make loved ones' lives easier. Ian's home visit service enables him to facilitate his clients' needs to the full, including dealing with emotive issues such as powers of attorney.

Innocent Kadungure

Jane Dwyer

Jane qualified as a Solicitor more than 22 years ago and she joined Horwood & James as a senior solicitor in the well-regarded Wills and Probate team. Jane advises clients on a range of matters including probate, the administration of estates and the drawing up of all types of wills. Jane also advises on trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Deputyship applications and she provides elderly client advice.

John Reddington

John joined the firm as a trainee in 2006 and on qualification in 2008 decided to pursue a career in the Property department. John deals with all aspects of Property law specilaising in commercial property transactions including sales and leases of shops, offices, warehouses and restaurants. John also has a great deal of experience in acting for developers and owners in land acquisitions including option and promotion agreements. Jonathan Warbey

Jonathan was admitted as a solicitor in 1990 having completed his articles with Horwood & James. He became a Partner with the firm in January 2002. He has considerable experience in Employment Law and regularly represents clients (both individual and commercial) before the Employment Tribunal. Jonathan's work not only covers contentious matters such as unfair dismissal, redundancy, breach of contract and discrimination, but he also covers a wide range of non-contentious matters. In addition he has considerable experience of commercial, landlord and tenant and general civil litigation work. He is also active in the Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire Incorporated Law Society and is the current President of the same. Away from the office Jonathan is a keen hockey player.

Lisa Angus

Lisa has worked within the Property industry in and around Aylesbury for over 38 years. Lisa joined Horwood & James in 2009 and works with the Head of our Property Department, Alison Thorpe. Lisa has a wealth of experience in both residential and commercial property matters. Outside of work, Lisa enjoys ballroom dancing, spending time with family and friends and going to the cinema and theatre.

Liz Evans

Liz is a licensed conveyancer who qualified in 2003 and joined Horwood & James in January 2013. Liz works in the firm's property department dealing with all residential transactions acting for both sellers and buyers, advising landlords and tenants and dealing with lease extensions. Outside work, Liz is on the PTA for a local primary school and is interested in anything to do with food and drink.

Lorna Barry

Lorna qualified in 2010 and has specialised exclusively in the field of family law since qualification. Lorna advises clients on all aspects of family law including separation and divorce, financial settlements on relationship breakdown, child arrangements, injunctive proceedings and cohabitation matters. She also advises on pre nuptial and post nuptial agreements. Throughout her career, Lorna has conducted numerous family law courses and presentations within the local community. She currently runs a free monthly advice service at a local Citizens Advice Bureau. Lorna joined Horwood and James in 2018 and outside of work enjoys walking and playing tennis.

Michelle Holm

Michelle Holm is a senior solicitor with more than 13years experience as a private client practitioner. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and having completed their exams has an in-depth knowledge of all of the areas she advises on. She advises clients in the following areas: The creation, administration and taxation of Trusts; Wills, including advising on the appropriateness of including trusts in Wills; Preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney; Registering existing Enduring Powers of Attorney; Deputyship applications where it is too late to prepare a Lasting Power of Attorney and Assisting executors and personal representatives in the administration of a deceased's estate. Michelle believes that getting to know her clients is important in enabling her to give them advice which is relevant to them and their circumstances. She also ensures that the advice given is both current and accurate.

Rebecca Oliver

Rebecca qualified in 2007 and embarked in her legal career dealing with corporate matters, such as asset sales and purchases. Since then, Rebecca's career has lended itself towards commercial and residential property transactions and she has been dealing solely with property work since 2010. Her experiences include option agreements, overage elements of property transactions, lease extensions and HS2 sales, to name a few.
