Alex Lodge

Alex is a Director with a business-wide national remit for Business Development and Marketing. He has spent his entire career within the construction industry, working within professional services consultant and contractor entities, including operating at board Director level. A professionally qualified marketeer, Alex also has masters level management qualifications. Based within the Leeds office, he works closely with the rest of the senior management team and has national responsibility for the business development and marketing functions across the 7 offices of Summers-Inman. This includes strategy development, client relationship development, branding, communications and support of customer care. The majority of Alex's 25 years' experience has been gained in working in professional construction consultancy, within sectors including Residential, Retail, Education, Sports & Leisure, Commercial, Industrial and more. This includes acting as Director and framework manager for national and regional framework agreements.

Andrew Rapmund

Andrew is a chartered Project Manager with over 23 years of experience acting as both client and consultant in managing multi-functional teams, ensuring his schemes are delivered within budget and on time. His management style is to foster a collaborative, teamwork approach and to draw the very best from the project team. His experience enables him to understand the client's objectives. In addition, he is able to lead and challenge the design team in understanding key drivers and see them through from inception to completion, thus ensuring commercial viability is always achieved. He is a self-motivated individual who uses straightforward thinking to deliver his projects. Andrew joined the Practice in 2019 with the intention of growing the Northern region Project Management team with a special focus on high-quality delivery. He has widespread knowledge and expertise in delivering specialist projects for public and private sector clients, which require a more detailed analysis of need; a thorough exploration of options and technical co-ordination to deliver robust solutions. Examples include: Higher educational facilities for Universities in Newcastle and Leeds which include the National Horizons Centre, Edward Boyle Library Refurbishment and Teesside University Library Refurbishment Statutory educational facilities, which include the Priority Schools Building Projects 2 North East A Batch, North East B Batch and numerous other School projects throughout the North East Private sector schemes for St Modwen, Tesco, Asda and Intu which include Eldon Square and MetroCentre Andrew is a South African who lives in Newcastle, and enjoys a balance between the big city buzz and great outdoors. He is keen at most sports and enjoys Northumberland coastal trips to the beach to enjoy paddle-boarding.

Andy is a Director based in our Leicester Office with over 22 years of experience in the Construction Industry. Having originally joined Summers-Inman's as a trainee Quantity Surveyor at our Newcastle office in 2001 until 2009 where he gained experience in a number of sectors including Leisure, Retail, Housing and Manufacturing. Andy then re-joined Summers-Inman Leicester office in 2014 focusing on Project Management with a particular specialism in delivering complex projects within the Food & Drink sector for Blue Chip Clients. In his spare time Andy enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, visiting the Lake District as often as possible and supporting his local football team Sunderland.

Angus Macdonald

Angus is a Director based in our Edinburgh office and is a chartered quantity surveyor. Professionally qualified since 1997, he has 27 years experience overall in the construction industry. Angus is responsible for the management and development of cost consultancy services in the Scottish region. Angus joined the practice initially in 2014 and has also worked in several other practices gaining a wide range of experience in a variety of sectors in both the public and private sectors. This has ranged from utilities infrastructure to development and operator fit-out work and has involved a broad range of roles including Employers Agent and cost consultancy in both new-build and live refurbishment environments. The professional development of staff is an area Angus also focuses on where he carries out the role of an APC supervisor and counsellor. He has also been involved in assessing candidates for MRICS qualification since 2009. In his spare time Angus enjoys playing seven a-side football, following football and rugby, sea angling and a bit of ski-ing.

Aynsley Cheatley

Aynsley is a main board Director based in our Edinburgh Office and is a Chartered Building Surveyor, Project Manager and CDM Principal Designer with over 20 years of experience in the Construction industry. Aynsley joined the Practice in 2004, shortly after achieving Chartered status and manages our Scottish region. He has a wide range of technical skill, knowledge and experience in all aspects of project and professional Building Surveying services including dilapidations, technical due diligence, commercial pre-acquisition and defect analysis. He has considerable experience working in all sectors of the Construction industry for both private and public sector clients. He also provides advisory services in respect of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) including provision of the Principal Designer role and is a Certified Member of the Association for Project Safety. Aynsley is the Framework Director/Lead for a number of long-standing clients, including several local authorities and housing associations. Outside the office, Aynsley is a passionate rugby union supporter and a member of a local rugby club. He enjoys live rock music and spending time with his family.

Ben Smith

Ben is based in our Leicester office and is a chartered Quantity Surveyor with 15 years of experience in the Construction industry as a Quantity Surveyor, Employers Agent, Project Manager and Design Coordinator. Over the last 15 years, Ben has gained experience across multiple sectors such as Commercial, Social Housing, Education, Retail and Healthcare, providing Cost Planning & Management, Contract Management, Project Management and Development Monitoring services. Ben is the Framework Director for a number of key clients, including Nationwide Building Society, where he oversees a multidisciplinary team that provide Quantity Surveying, Design and Principal Designer Services in the delivery of the refurbishment of the society's head office and admin facilities estate, and for Central Bedfordshire Council, where he leads a team of employers agents delivering a multi-phase retirement living project as well as the development of other social housing projects. Ben is heavily involved in the development of junior members of our team and acts as Supervisor and Counsellor for a number of our APC candidates. In his spare time Ben enjoys music, DIY, golf and spending time with his family.

Chris Mayes

Chris is a Director based in our Leicester Office with over 20 years of experience in the Construction industry both as a Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager Specialising in the Retail sector, Chris has provided Cost Planning & Management Services, Employer's Agent, Contract Administration and Project Management services to several of the nation's favourite retail brands and is currently account lead with two of our largest retail clients, Tesco and McDonalds. The experience and breadth of knowledge accumulated over the past 20 years by Chris and his colleagues in Leicester, both across new build and refurbishment projects, has led to Summers-Inman being a go-to practice for many of our retail clients when specialist and challenging retail projects arise. Chris joined the Practice in 2001 and has previous experience working in both the Residential and Highways sectors of the industry. In his spare time, Chris enjoys football, golf and travelling with his family.

Dan Green

Dan is a Director, based in our Leicester Office, and is a Chartered Building Surveyor with 16 years of construction industry experience. Joining Summers-Inman in 2017, Dan manages the Building Surveyors in the Midlands and focuses on providing a strong, motivated and engaged multi-disciplinary team to deliver services both locally and nationally. Dan has extensive experience in key disciplines, including Contract Administration, Design Services, Project Management, Health & Safety and Asset Management expertise. His knowledge focuses on design and specification services for new build and refurbishment projects, preparation of tender documentation and procurement, defect diagnosis, condition survey programmes and planning preventative maintenance schedules, principal designer services and managing the delivery of projects from inception through to completion.

David Blakey

David Cronje

David is an enthusiastic, forward-thinking and confident professional with a proven track record of successful delivery of complex projects. Experienced in the delivery of all aspects of pre and post contract services across many sectors, David has extensive experience within the Healthcare sector and has a strong passion for sustainable construction practices. David is also an accredited NEC Project Manager. David is also a BREEAM Advisory Professional and Assessor and is experienced in providing advice on the effective management of the design, development and procurement process in order to best achieve Client and Project sustainability and environmental targets and goals including BREEAM ratings. David joined the Practice in 2000 and has been responsible for the management and development of our Quality Management System to ensure our ongoing certification and compliance with the ISO Standards. In his spare time, David enjoys playing and coaching rugby, golf and spending time with his family.

Derek Brydon

With responsibility for leading and growing our Health sector portfolio, Derek is a chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 40 years of experience in the Construction industry both as a Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager. Having been involved in NHS Partnering Frameworks since the start of ProCure21 in 2003, and being actively involved in the current ProCure22 Framework, Derek is also one of three ProCure22 trainers appointed by the Department of Health and Social Care to deliver Pre-Construction, Construction and Commercial training. Derek has spent a significant period of this time developing strategic partnerships with NHS Trust organisations. He provides assistance in the delivery of capital programmes, with extensive knowledge of administering contracts, including use of the JCT and NEC suite of documents. Derek provides a single point of contact for our clients within the Health sector. Committed to collaborative working, early stakeholder engagement, team training and support, Derek combines his organisational and communication skills with a comprehensive knowledge of commercial issues. In his spare time, Derek enjoys health, fitness and nutrition, reading, music and is a season ticket holder at Newcastle United.

Edward Marlow

Edward is an Associate Director based in our Leicester Office and is an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor with nearly 10 years' experience in all aspects of commercial building surveying. Edward joined Summers Inman in 2021, and prior to that worked for a national multi-disciplinary firm of property and construction consultants and the NHS earlier in his career. Edward has extensive experience in providing both traditional building surveying and project management roles and brings a practical and pragmatic approach to successfully delivering projects in the public and private sectors. His core work focusses on design and specification, contract administration, party walls, dilapidations, clerk of works/ quality monitoring, building surveys and defect diagnosis across domestic and social housing, education, retail and commercial sectors. Edward specialises in the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 and provides significant support to Building Owners and Adjoining Owners where this specialism is required from small property developments to £multi-million commercial and housing developments including complex city centre developments throughout the UK. Out of work, Edward enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, going to the gym and is a keen rugby and football supporter (Leicester City for his sins).

Ewen McRobie

Ewen McRobie, an Associate Director based out of our Newcastle Office and has over 20 years' experience in the construction industry. Ewen began his construction career in the public sector working firstly for Cumbria County Council as a Capital Spend Programme Officer managing both rural and urban regeneration projects before moving to Northumberland County Council to operate as a Property Development Officer enabling the development of large-scale infrastructure projects such as Northumberland Business Park, North of Newcastle and Ramparts Business Park in Berwick-upon-Tweed. From here Ewen moved into private property development within the medical sector, focusing on the development of multi-practice GP centres with ancillary services such as community dentistry, community mental health, minor ops and pharmacy services. The rest of Ewen's 20+ years tenure within construction industry to date has been spent predominantly within main contracting, working with companies such as Willmott Dixon and Interserve providing bid management, framework management and business development solutions. Ewen has been heavily involved in numerous varied and notable capital developments such as Durham University's Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics, Newcastle City Centre Police Station for Northumbria Police and the redevelopment of the former iconic Art Deco Coop building at Newgate Street in Newcastle, converted into a 184 bed Premier Inn hotel. Further to this, Ewen has managed the development of numerous national and regional framework bid submissions such as Scape, ProCure 21+, NEPO, NEUPC, Pagabo, to name but a few. Upon successful re-tendering of the Scape Framework whilst at Willmott Dixon, Ewen operated as the North East Framework Manager for Scape and delivered circa £50m turnover per annum in new build contracts. Outside of work Ewen is a frequent visitor to his local gym and is a member of Tynedale Harriers running club where he is currently undertaking a coaching qualification to enable him to operate a couch to 5K introduction to running group for those interested in taking up the sport for the first time. When time allows Ewen also enjoys reading contemporary fictional literature and cooking curries from scratch - the hotter the better!

Ian is a main board Director based in our Leicester Office, and is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 30 years of experience in the Construction industry both as a Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager. Providing Cost Planning & Cost Management Services, Employer's Agent, Contract Administration, Project Management, Construction Management, Development and Monitoring services, Ian is experienced in many sectors including Industrial Plants, Warehousing/Distribution, Retail, Social Housing, Education, Health and Leisure Schemes and Commercial work. Ian Joined the Practice in 1997 and has held a number of internal responsibilities during this time including the management of IT for Summers-Inman over recent years and has lead a number of business initiatives within Summers-Inman to ensure the practice continues to move forward and grows in a sustainable manner. Ian is the Framework Director/Lead for a number of long standing clients ,including Associated British Foods, Tesco, Leicester County Council and a number of commercial and public sector organisations. From the Leicester office, Ian has also been heavily involved in the delivery of Construction Management services with a particular specialism in the Food & Drink sector. This includes delivering a number of complex projects within ‘live' production sites where construction work is being completed, whilst the client's core business is ongoing. Ian is also experienced in the delivery of a number of Public Sector projects and has led Summers-Inman's involvement in securing positions on a number of Public Sector Frameworks. James Milton

James is the Framework Director/Lead for several key commissions the most notable being in the Defence Sector for Amey Defence Services were by he is overseeing a large stock condition survey programme. In addition to this he is heavily involved in the delivery of Employers Agent Services on a number of new residential schemes.

John Harvey

John has a wealth of experience delivering numerous project types using various forms of contract including NEC, JCT, and PFI across all sectors and is an NEC 3 Accredited Project Manager Originally from an Architectural background, John's Architectural experience gives an additional dimension to his attributes as a Project Manager and design team leader working in collaboration to achieve the Client's objectives. John has excellent communication skills and makes a point of understanding all aspects of the projects he delivers. John is a key member of our Project Management team, leading with a hands-on pragmatic approach and executing the full spectrum of Project Management services. Outside of the office, John enjoys spending time with his wife and family and is a regular on the golf course most weekends.

Providing Cost Planning & Cost Management Services, Employer's Agent, Contract Administration, Project Management, Development and Monitoring services, Lee is experienced in many sectors including Health and Leisure Schemes, Retail, Education, Local Authority, Residential, Commercial and Retail. Lee joined Summers-Inman in 2010 and has been involved with numerous challenging projects. Further to becoming a Chartered Surveyor, Lee has specialised in Contract Administration and Project Management, acting as Employer's Agent on a range of schemes. Lee is particularly able to deliver ‘Distressed' projects and programmes. Lee is the Framework Director for a number of long standing Clients including Philips Electronics and Richmond Council and a number of commercial and public sector organisations. From the London office Lee has also taken a lead in the delivery of Project Management services with a particular specialism in the delivery of specialist medical equipment such as MRIs, Cath Labs and digital X-Rays. This includes delivering a number of complex projects within ‘live' hospital environments where construction work is being completed whilst maintaining operational needs is key for patient safety. Having a very pro-active approach to his work, Lee finds keeping a high level of communication between key members of the project team has been the driving force behind the success of the projects he has led. Lee has worked as the commercial manager for Guy's and St Thomas' NHS foundation Trust, has delivered a programme of 6th Forms as the programme manager for the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames which included managing a team of project managers, quantity surveyors, CDMCs and designers. Lee is actively involved in his own community and has been a Governor for a local children's centre. He also acts as an APC Supervisor and Counsellor for APC candidates and in his spare time spends his time playing sports and activities with his family.

Mark Dutton

Mark Dutton, a main board Director based in our Newcastle Office, is a chartered Quantity Surveyor with 30 years of experience in the Construction industry. Providing Cost Planning & Management Services, Contract Administration, Project Management and Development Monitoring services, Mark is involved many large capital projects and programmes of work. Mark joined the practice in 2000 and has particular interests in emerging trends and technology and has been an early adopter of tools such as project extranets, electronic measuring and billing systems, cost planning systems and the direct measurement of electronic drawings. Mark was heavily involved in Summers-Inman's adoption of Building Information Modelling for both our Building Surveying teams and Quantity Surveying Teams. Mark is the Framework Director for our contract with Severn Trent Water, managing Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Building Surveying services across their estate. Notable capital projects also include a new production facility for Thorn Lighting, Master Plans for Durham County Cricket Club and Alnwick Castle, the redevelopment of the Arnison Centre and the initial two phases of Quorum Business Park. Mark managed our Independent Certifier Teams delivering IC services to BSF and Primary Capital Programme funded education schemes.

Michael Pollock

Michael is a Director based in our Edinburgh Office and is a Building Surveyor with over 17 years of experience in the Construction industry providing both Building Surveying and CDM Advisor services. Michael is also responsible for the development of the Digital Surveying and Reality Capture service in the Scottish Region. Michael joined the Practice in 2005 and has gained a wide range of experience on many different types of projects in both Public and Private sectors. Michael has extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of Building Surveying including refurbishment, alteration, repair & maintenance, defect analysis, contract administration, insurance reinstatement, dilapidations, schedules of condition, pre-acquisition surveys, condition surveys, design & specification and conservation. Michael's project experience covers all sectors of the Construction industry. In his spare time Michael enjoys playing golf and tennis; cycling; and spending time with family. Michael is a member of a local rugby club and still occasionally plays for their over 35's team.
