Ann Black

Ann has worked for the Association since the stock transfer from Scottish Homes in March 1997. She worked as a part time clerical officer assisting various departments throughout the organisation before taking up the post of Lettings Officer. An opportunity arose for Ann to become a full- time housing officer which she carried out for 18 years before taking up the post of Senior Customer Service Officer in January 2017. Ann is a qualified first aider and trained mediator and more recently gained a qualification in Leadership, Management and Business skills. Prior to working with Shire Housing, Ann had various jobs from kitchen assistant to wages clerk where she worked for a local factory for 18 years.

Claire Donnelly

Claire leads the Corporate Services Team which provides support to all aspects of the business. As a Chartered Accountant, she is responsible for the delivery of our strategic financial objectives, ensuring that our finances and governance support our Business Plan, comply with statutory requirements, regulatory standards and best practice. In addition to finance, Claire has responsibility for: ICT Governance Performance Management Human Resources Risk Management Factoring Payroll

Dawn Blackhurst

Dawn joined the Association in March 2016 initially as Clerical Assistant, she then moved onto secure a Customer Service Assistant post dealing with Allocations. Her role has change recently to be come a Housing Assistant. This post allows Dawn to have a more generic role, including, Allocations, Financial Inclusion, Estate Management and Anti social issues. During her time with the Association she has gained a qualification in both CIH Level 3 and also Level 4 in Housing . Prior to her appointment at Shire Housing Association, Dawn worked at East Ayrshire Council from the age of 16 as a Skillseeker then progressed through various roles for the next 12 years mainly in the Waste Management Section.

Diane Balfour

Diane joined the association in April 2015, having previously worked for DWP for 32 years. During this time, Diane built up a wealth of knowledge and experience around income-related and disability benefits. Her final 7 years with DWP were spent working in partnership with University Hospital Ayr, assisting in-patients and their families with benefit claims. Diane's main role within the association is to assist our tenants to maximise their income and aid tenancy sustainment, focussing on the challenges presented by Welfare Reforms and Universal Credit.

Grace Scott

Grace has work for Shire H.A since its origins - March 1997 as a Finance Assistant, before moving into the Allocations Section for approximately 15 years as the Allocations Officer and is now enjoying her role as Customer Service Officer following the internal restructure of the organisation. Prior to joining Shire H.A Grace worked for Glasgow District Council, Scottish Special Housing Association before it merged to become Scottish Homes and ultimately Shire H.A. Educated to higher level, Grace had a few different employment roles before finding life in public service in 1978.

Hugh Carr

Hugh is a chartered accountant and has worked in and around Scottish housing associations since 1995, as a financial manager and business consultant. After 12 years as Director of Finance at Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership, Scotland's second largest RSL, he is now a consultant advising RSLs on finance and treasury matters. He has extensive experience of long term business planning and funding for housing associations. He has served on the Boards of 3 other RSLs, including 5 years chairing the Board at a specialist housing and care provider in Edinburgh, and was for 10 years on the Board of Dumfries and Galloway College, and chaired the Board through the pandemic period. In his spare time, he worries about the fortunes of Newcastle United and Yorkshire county cricket.

Jade McLelland

Jade graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2011 with a BA (Hons) in History and Sociology. Prior to joining the Association, Jade worked as a Senior Personal Banker with the Royal Bank of Scotland. After 7 years of service she took Voluntary Redundancy to pursue a career in housing. Since joining the Association, Jade has gained the CIH Level 4 Certificate in Housing. Her role includes governance, supporting the Management Board and Senior Management Team and maintaining accurate information to support the Association in meeting evidence-based reporting requirements.

Jim Munro - CEO

Jim Munro has been our Director since 2016, and also performs the role of Company Secretary. He leads our staff team and works closely with the Management Board and senior staff delivering our Business Plan ensuring high quality services to our tenants and customers. Jim also works closely with our Management Board ensuring high quality governance, regulatory compliance and organisational development. Jim is a graduate of Stirling and Strathclyde Universities. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing. Prior to joining Shire H.A in 2016, Jim worked for six housing associations, holding senior roles at Carrick H.A., Cadder H.A., ANCHO and Barrhead Housing Association.

Julie Allison

Julie joined Shire Housing Association as Head of Housing to lead the strategic development of our Housing and Asset Team. A qualified housing professional, Julie has over 30 years of experience in innovating and delivering customer focused housing and maintenance services. Her focus shall be delivering excellent services and performance, engaging with customers and ensuring that the Shire team continues to maintain your homes to a high standard. Prior to joining Shire, Julie was a Senior Service Improvement Manager at River Clyde Homes and has also worked with some Glasgow based Housing Associations and a Local Authority.

Liam Gallacher

Liam was co-opted onto the board in December 2020 have recently retired from Hewlett Packard Enterprise after 25 years service. Liam is a Chartered Accountant and moved to Ayrshire from his native Greenock in 1988 as Financial Controller for Prestwick Circuits before joining HPE in 1995. At HPE he worked in a variety of roles including as a Finance Manager although latterly he managed a Business Operations team in HPEÃ ™s Parts Supply Chain. He lives in Prestwick with his wife and 3 sons and outside of work he is Chairman and Treasurer of Caledonian Youth Club, a large youth football club based in Prestwick.

Lucy Urquhart

Lucy joined the Association in October 2018 as Care & Repair Assistant and has recently moved into a new role as Customer Assistant, within the Customer Services Team. Mark comes to Shire Housing Association as the new Asset Manager and brings an experience spanning over 30 years covering the construction, maintenance and asset management industry.

Nick Allan

Nick joined the Board of Shire Housing as a co-optee in March 2014 and was re-elected as a full Board Member at the AGM in August. He is a Chartered Surveyor who has enjoyed a long career in both the private and public sector. He is an experienced practitioner in every aspect of estates and property management, and has contributed to the development of strategic asset management practice across the Scottish central and local government landscape. In his spare time Nick is a keen cricketer, golfer and classic car enthusiast.

Nicola McMillan

Nicola joined Shire in August 2018 as a Repairs Assistant. Prior to this, Nicola worked within Housing Asset Services with East Ayrshire Council for 30 years. Nicola holds an Institute of Leadership and Management Level 3 qualification. She also has an HNC in Public Administration and is a qualified First Aider.

Peggy-Anne Miller

Peggy-Anne started working for Scottish Homes in 1994 in the finance department, moving to Housing Management when Shire Housing was created in 1997. Ross is currently Service Improvement Manager with Scotland's Housing Network, and prior to this spent 8 years working for South Ayrshire Council, most recently as Coordinator within the Housing Policy and Strategy team. As a Board Member, Ross is committed to seeing positive changes in the communities we serve and ensuring our tenants get the best services possible.

Simon Roberts - Chairman

Simon joined the Board of Shire Housing in 2017. He is Head of Operational Policy and Compliance at the Accountant in Bankruptcy, a Scottish Government Agency dealing with Insolvency in Scotland. Previously he has worked on legislation and guidance for the Scottish Housing Quality Standard, the Energy Efficiency Standard for Social Housing, cross-tenure housing standards, missing shares for common works, and defects in precast reinforced concrete housing. He has an MSc in Housing Studies through Stirling University, and is currently studying for an MLitt in Scottish History at Dundee University. Simon grew up in Oxfordshire and has lived with his family in East Ayrshire since 2001. He is also a member of the Campaign for Real Ale.

Willie Paterson

Willie joined the Board as a co-optee in August 2015. He is Facilities Manager for Billy Bowie Special Projects Limited based in Kilmarnock. His work experience and responsibilities have been very varied throughout his working life from engineering maintenance to ensuring all Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental regulations are met within the workplace. Willie lives locally and is aware of the challenges faced by the Association and with wider community and decide to become more proactive and joined the board of Shire Housing. Willie is also an active member of New Cumnock Burns Club and enjoys going to watch Kilmarnock FC.
