FLEET ARCHITECTS - Key Persons


Agata Dixon-Smith

Agata joined fleet architects Margate office in February 2023. She started her career in a London AJ100 practice over 15 years ago. She has since worked for studios across London and the South East on projects ranging from high-end residential schemes to hostels for the homeless and across all stages of the design process. Outside of commercial practice she has conducted research into UK-based art interventions in public space for the Association of Polish Architects. In 2009 she co-founded Kosi Architects, winning the British Home Awards competition: Lifetime homes, lifetime neighbourhoods. Agata is an Associate Lecturer and Culture and Community Studio Lead for MA Architecture and Interior Design Courses at the Canterbury School of Architecture, University for the Creative Arts.

Amy Hiley

Amy joined Fleet in March 2024, after working in the social housing sector for more than 10 years. During this time, she specialised in designing and managing complex medium and large-scale mixed-use and community-led projects on sensitive and constrained sites, with a particular focus on low-energy and passivhaus design standards. Amy is adept at bringing together design proposals for estate renewal, housing schemes and masterplans covering all project stages, from conception to completion, for both public and private sector clients, where she values the delivery of quality design with a social purpose through a collaborative design approach. Her experience also extends across leading smaller-scale residential and garden design schemes, and Amy's passion for horticulture has led her to broaden her knowledge and obtain additional qualifications, furthering her interest in the dynamic relationship between landscape and architectural design.

Benedict Spry

Ben Spry is a speaker, architectural designer and environmental campaigner. Having worked extensively on community-led projects, Ben uses his skills in critical design to drive positive change within the built environment. Ben has a wealth of expertise in co-design and has facilitated several consultation sessions for housing projects in London. Ben is a co-founder of Power Out of Restriction, a social enterprise that focuses on the development of communities through the elevation of young people. POoR sees the power of the younger generation and seeks to get young voices heard. Through knowledge sharing and design, POoR aims to bring together a wealth of demographics, and empower the youth of today. Ben Has re-joined Fleet having previously worked with us after his Part 1 where he was also taught by Jaime Bishop and Richard Henson at LSBU.

Callum Boult

Callum joined Fleet in September 2018 after completing his Part II at The CASS, graduating with a distinction. He previously studied architecture at Oxford Brookes University and also has experience working at a practice specialising in residential projects. Callum became a an Associate at Fleet in 2023.

Daniel Collinson

Daniel Collinson has joined the Fleet Architects Team in the role of RIBA Part 2 Architectural Designer having completed his studies at the Manchester School of Architecture. Daniel has previously worked on a series of refurbishment project and has a keen interest in the re-use and the adaptability of existing buildings to tackle the carbon footprint on the construction industry. Daniel is passionate about the marine environment and has conducted research for his thesis project on forward thinking construction methods and materials to develop an architectural proposition to recycle ocean plastic and waste. Daniel was born in Newcastle but has spent much of his life in Asia before moving to the United Kingdom for his architectural education. Daniel hopes to gain valuable experience and skills at Fleet and has ambitions to become a fully qualified architect.

Jonathan Craven

Jonathan started with Fleet in February 2017 following the completion of his undergraduate studies at The CASS. Hailing from York, he is currently living in East London with the intention of returning to study in 2018. Jonathan was awarded the best dissertation in architecture 2017 from the CASS and is an avid wearer of cargo trousers.

Kai Xin

Kai Xin was promoted to Associate in 2022 having joined fleet architect in October 2018 after completing her Part II in University of East London, where she gained a distinction. She was awarded the RIBA East London Society Architects Award for her fifth year portfolio. She worked in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for her Part 1 year out and gained experience in mixed use and private residential projects. While initially gaining her experience at Fleet, Kai Xin has also completed an MA in Urban Design to further develop her design research in urban environments. Kai Xin has led the internal production and project management for several projects of Fleet including public, private and charitable work and covering all stages of concept and building delivery, and proved herself a well- rounded designer with her contribution to the sophistication and practicality she brings to the team .

MA Cantab

Richard has over 10 years experience in healthcare architecture, working first for MAAP on the celebrated Highcroft Hospital Mental Health Units and Kidderminster DTC. Prior to joining Fleet, Richard was a Senior Design Associate at Steffian Bradley Architects. Joining in 2005, he worked with Jaime Bishop on a series of projects including Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre, Walsall Manor Hospital and the Stanley Primary Care Centre. During this period Richard has had further success (in collaboration with Archipelago) as a Joint Winner of an international housing design competition sited in Milton Keynes, ‘Lost Garden City Found', 2006. Richard is an excellent all-round designer and realiser, working in all Settings. He brings much experience with complex sites and limited timescales. Richard has proven his dependability in maintaining a high quality product in the most testing of situations.

MARCA RIBA

Jaime is a proven project designer, competition winner and studio leader. During his professional career he has been responsible for multiple projects with values ranging between 8 and 120 million pounds and was one of three associate directors responsible for the management of a 65 person firm under a Managing Director. He is an experienced all-round designer with specialist skills in healthcare and has sat on the executive board of Architects for Health (AfH) since 2006. He has significant experience as the lead architect in major PFI schemes including the preparation of a reference project for a $2 billion teaching hospital in Adelaide, Australia. He has been a visiting tutor at various universities since 2002 including Nottingham, Cardiff and London Metropolitan. Since 2012 Jaime and Richard have been teaching third year degree level at London South Bank University and established their studio, The Transpontine Laboratory, based at the university in 2014. Jaime was educated at The Royal College of Art, Bath University and the TU Delft Highrise Scholarship. He has been ARB registered and a member of RIBA since 2006. He is a recognised figure in the healthcare sector with connections throughout the industry. Jaime has detailed knowledge of traditional and PFI contracts, fee negotiation and project cost control. Jaime has sat on the board of City and Hackney NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and, social enterprise, East London Integrated Care. He has also served as an elected governor at the Homerton University NHS Foundation Trust.

Ruairi McCance

Job Titles:

Ruairi McCance is a qualified architect & joined Fleet in Jan 2024. He previously spent 5 years working in the high end private residential sector designing modern extensions to Victorian terraced houses in London with a strong emphasis on materiality, texture and light and shadow. Due to the often tight spatial constraints Ruairi is well versed in fine detailing and enjoys finding technical solutions for complex problems. Before this he worked on modern extensions to grade 2 listed theatres. Due to the relatively quick build times of private housing Ruairi has worked on many projects with an abundance of on site experience often from concept to completion. He loves drawing (by hand and computer) and always has a sketchbook and colouring pencils on his desk. He is an avid reader . He is also a keen sportsman and has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a blue belt in Judo. He likes to combine these hobbies by collecting bizarre and obscure books on martial arts and niche exercise books.

Suren Grigoryan

Suren Grigoryan, our Finance Director, brings over 20 years of experience working in various industries. He has a proven track record of supporting owner-managed business to establishing strong financial foundations. He specialises in boosting profitability, streamlining processes, and budgeting, making him asset in Fleet team. Suren is an ACCA qualified accountant, with Executive MBA degree from London Business School. He has completed his PhD degree in Finance in 2006, specialising in Budgeting.

Tim Kershaw

Tim is a regular Fleet team member and collaborator in place consultancy, community and stakeholder engagement planning and delivery, and data analysis and mapping. Having undertaken this role successfully in the Peterson's Fish Smoke Houses scheme with Fleet, which achieved NLHF round 2 funding in 2020, he founded Place and Purpose CIC with the support of Fleet, who are co-directors, which was established with the specific goal of helping community organisations and activists to build convincing narratives and business proposals through the use of open-source data. Tim trained as an Architect before undertaking a Masters degree in Place Management and Leadership at Manchester Metropolitan University overseen by the Institute of Place Management.

Val Tse

Val Tse is a ARB qualified architect with interior architecture specialism and joined the Fleet Team in 2023 to lead retail, hospitality interiors projects.
