Priscilla Bacon Norfolk

Priscilla Bacon Norfolk Hospice Care Ltd. has been established to raise £12.5 million to build a new hospice - Priscilla Bacon Hospice - for the community of Norfolk and Waveney. Priscilla Bacon Hospice will replace the current Priscilla Bacon Lodge, established some 40 years ago through a public fundraising campaign. Despite its achievements, Priscilla Bacon Lodge is now inadequate both in scale and configuration, as the population of Norfolk has risen by 220,000 since it was built. Against a requirement for 47-59 specialist palliative care beds, we have just 16 - all in Priscilla Bacon Lodge. Ever-increasing demand - for inpatient beds as well as day and respite care - from a growing and ageing population means that greater capacity is desperately needed. The new 24 bed Priscilla Bacon Hospice will be built on a semi-rural site close to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. It will boast the most modern and very best facilities, plus a wider range of community day care and out-patient services, giving those who require care a greater breadth of choice. It will focus on enabling a ‘good death', caring for patients and supporting loved ones through and beyond bereavement.
