Mr David Williams

Job Titles:
  • Director
  • Partner
  • Solicitor
  • Dip Solicitor
After completing his first degree David worked in the commercial sector, in marketing, for a number of years during which he found his calling drafting contracts, non-disclosure agreements, business terms & conditions and dealing with debt-recovery/litigation for the organisations he worked for, as well as succeeding in that industry because of his ability to communicate accurately and persuasively. David decided to retrain to pursue his strengths and he subsequently obtained two postgraduate qualifications in law and legal practice. David joined DC Kaye & Co in 2009 to specialise into its long-established departments in private and commercial litigation, employment law and criminal defence service. David quickly proved himself at DC Kaye & Co because of his success with his cases and he was promoted to Head of Litigation in 2011. In early 2013 David was invited into the partnership and became the joint equal owner and Partner/Director of the firm with its longstanding owner and Partner/Director Mr Paul Prikryl, who himself directly took over ownership of the firm from its founder and now Consultant Mr Donald Kaye. David and Paul share a strong mutual vision about the high-level of service that clients have a right to expect of their lawyers and which their firm is determined to deliver believing in the fundamental value of helping their clients get the best advice at the right time because it is almost always more difficult and expensive to sort out disputes in the future if ambiguities or mistakes occur because legal advice was not taken early enough at the right time. David is strong in his technical understanding of the law, lateral thinking and yet practical with his advice. His approach to his cases is methodical and incredibly conscientious. He is tenacious, persuasive in Court and in correspondence and shrewd in his legal drafting. He has an enviable success rate with his cases in both the County Court and High Court. You are in safe hands if you instruct David.

Paul Prikryl

Job Titles:
  • Director
  • Partner
He joined the firm in 2000. He studied at a private law school and then at the University of Western Australia, Perth for his Bachelor law degree which he completed at the University of London. He then completed the postgraduate diploma in practical legal studies. He did his training contract with the firm. After completion of his training contract Paul was admitted as a solicitor on 17 March 2003. During both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies Paul was already doing legal work for both criminal and civil law firms gaining valuable practical skills in criminal and civil court work. This gave him the extra years of experience prior to him qualifying as a solicitor. He was able to capitalise on the extra experience by furthering his legal skills and practice. Paul was very keen on legal issues since his early grammar school years. Within a relatively short time of joining the firm he proved to be a valuable asset. Few years after qualifying he was heading the Litigation Department running many contentious cases for the firm and attending both civil and criminal courts where he exercised his analytical and tactical skills. Paul especially enjoys personal contacts with clients advising them, analysing their legal issues and helping solve their problems. Many clients found him friendly, approachable and easy to work with. Through his early years with the firm Paul also had a thorough non-contentious legal experience when supporting the firm's conveyancing department. Paul was made partner in 2007 and later director when the firm incorporated. In 2008 he became the head of our Property and Commercial Departments. He started to concentrate mainly on non-contentious legal work and commercial issues. He considers himself to be a technical lawyer using his background contentious experience and a good eye for detail. Paul now has over 15 years' experience in contentious legal matters and over 10 years' experience in all main aspects of both property and commercial law. He has been regularly involved in both contentious and non-contentious specialist work representing a wide spectrum of commercial and private clients. Paul attended at Land Adjudicators' hearings, Land Tribunal hearings, Employment Tribunals and in many County Courts and High Court hearings. On some occasions he also attended in the Court of Appeal assisted by barristers and on few occasions he also assisted in the proceedings in the Supreme Court. Paul advises regularly commercial and private clients both from the UK and from overseas using his embassy and overseas connections. Using his commercial and legal experience and his fairly extensive knowledge of the law together with his analytical skills he advises his clients on many multi-factorial, unique and varied matters ranging from some multi-national company disputes, recovery of assets and debt recoveries to high street commercial and private property transactions and leases. He helps clients in establishing and running their businesses whilst also advising on complex land disputes. Paul also deals with regular conveyancing matters. He takes keen interest in EU Law. In addition to his own legal practice Paul also assists our solicitors in supplying valuable consultation advice. He is often asked to provide a second opinion on a variety of issues by giving the options available and his recommendations as to the best way to proceed to achieve the required goals. Aside from legal matters he is also consulted on issues of the Solicitor SRA and Accounts Rules and Money Laundering Legislation. Paul is the firms Compliance Officer for Legal Practice and for Finance and Administration. He occasionally also provides consultation support to our civil and criminal litigation teams due to his previous extensive experience in those fields. Paul is firm and clear in his advice hoping that the advice he provides is advice his clients can rely upon. He can be persuasive and adept in the art of negotiation as well as being meticulous and efficient in his management of his client's matters. Paul considers himself to be both good technical and practical lawyer. He makes it his personal goal to ensure that his clients are always satisfied. Paul is regularly recommended by his clients and also by third parties such as barristers, experts, surveyors and agents throughout Buckinghamshire and further afield. Outside the office Paul enjoys sport and hectic but happy family life with 5 children. He is a good tennis player and even better chess player having been coached for many years by his grandad. He considers the game of chess to be ideal and indeed vital in exercising analytical skills. Paul speaks fluent Czech, basic German and a bit of Russian. Given the close proximities of languages he also understands Slovak and is often instructed by Slovak speaking clients. Paul's advice is respected and sought by clients many of whom recommend him. He has substantial experience in advising about commercial and partnership law, contract and employment issues as well as some cross-border disputes involving EU law. At the moment Paul advises mainly on commercial property matters and land disputes whilst also dealing with leases and mainstream conveyancing for both commercial and private clients. From time to time he advises on cross border disputes involving international commercial and private clients. He often helps clients with setting up, running and selling/buying their businesses and also advises on joint ventures. He is involved in various business disputes which sometimes have multi-national character. Paul negotiates leases and other commercial agreements. He helps new businesses achieve their goals providing them with both practical and technically sound legal advice. Paul also deals with lease renewals, surrenders and terminations of leases, dilapidations, disrepairs, repossessions and all property and land disputes including easements and boundaries involving both commercial and private clients. Paul acts for clients in relation to new developments, planning and environmental issues, agricultural land and also gives support to our residential conveyancing team. He deals with land acquisitions, assignments, transfers of equity, equity release and mortgages. He drafts option and overage agreements and pre-emption agreements which he enforces where necessary by attending County Courts and High Courts proceedings in cases of disputes. He has extensive experience in mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Paul advises clients on making and resisting claims for adverse possession, disputes about rights of way and other easements, breaches of restrictive covenants in both freehold and leasehold titles and disputes over lease extensions and other enfranchisement matters. He acted in some most complex cases and County Court and Tribunal disputes involving missing title deeds and missing landlords of over 400 years old leases, actions against the Crown, missing easements and disputes over consents to alternations and developments and also in disputes over valuations and validities of notices being served involving both commercial and residential landlords and tenants. Paul developed a particular interest in Intellectual Property and E-commerce disputes and in EU law including property and commercial matters having previously acted for overseas agencies preserving their client's legal rights within the UK. Paul often works on a fix fee basis giving his clients the certainty and often the luxury of being able to contact him when they please whilst not having to pay more than originally agreed in what are quite often fairly complex cases and disputes involving numerous hours of work time and hundreds of pages of correspondence. Thanks to his highly organised skills and economic ways of dealing with matters he is able to keep at very reasonable costs whilst preserving his good standard of legal service. Paul manages and oversees our two departments' work for Property and Commercial Departments across our four offices in Prestwood, Aylesbury, Amersham and Wendover providing a fundamental, invaluable and well respected service to our communities. His department has expanded due to previously increasing demands and currently consists of 8-10 members including solicitors, conveyancers, senior consultants and very experienced assistants and secretaries who work hard to ensure that all matters are dealt with conscientiously and efficiently at great value for money.
