Denise Gillam

Denise joined Garden House Solicitors in May 2020 in the role as Legal Cashier. Denise has 37 years experience as a Legal Cashier after leaving Lloyds Bank, her first job from school. In her spare time she enjoys socialising with friends and family and traveling the UK.

Elly Wood

Elly joined the firm in December 2012 in the role of Client Liaison Officer. She is the first point of contact for clients and will always be able to update them on their matter at any time. Elly is a real asset to the firm and its clients as she is always friendly and professional.

Emma Moffat

Emma qualified as a solicitor in April 2000 and practiced at a Hertfordshire law firm. Emma gained a broad experience, specialising in Personal Injury. Emma returned to law after a family career break to specialise in Probate and joined Garden House Solicitors in August 2021 as a Consultant. Emma's depth of experience makes her approachable and she hopes her practical attitude will give client's peace of mind and reassurance at what can be a stressful and upsetting time.

Frances Bedbrook-Kelly

Frances is a Consultant Solicitor with the firm. She qualified in 1997 and she specialises in all areas of Family Law. She is a member of Resolution and aims to provide straightforward family law advice in simple language cutting out the normal legal jargon. Being a member of Resolution, Frances seeks to achieve an amicable and fair result for her clients and always has the interests of any children in mind. She believes that it is possible for divorcing parties to go through the separation process and still be friends at the end which always benefits the parties and any children in the long run.

Ian Barton

Ian joined the firm in February 2022 as a consultant dealing with all aspects of private client work including Trusts, Estate Administration, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Tax Planning. He is admitted as a Solicitor in England & Wales and as an Attorney at Law in New York. He was previously head of private client legal services at a trust corporation in the City of London and he worked for several years in Jersey and in the Caribbean in the offshore trust industry. In a past life he lived in Germany where he worked for the Munich office of an international law firm and later at the Deutsche Bank AG in Frankfurt am Main. He is a German speaker. Outside of work, Ian is a member of the East India Club in the St James district of London and is currently one of the club's directors where he actively participates in the management and development of the club.

Jessica Jacobs

Jessica first joined the firm in October 2020 as part of a work experience placement. She is now working as a Paralegal and she primarily supports Lucy Walpole with personal injury clients.

Ken Ling

Ken has extensive business experience and was instrumental in the setting up and also the continued success of the firm. His role is to manage the business and ensure it runs efficiently by putting measures into operation to ensure the business is successful. He is a visionary thinker and was responsible for sourcing and implementing systems to enable our solicitors and support staff to work efficiently from anywhere in the world. Ken works closely with the firm's accounts department in developing and implementing budgets and regularly reviews performance of the business to ensure each department meets its financial goals. He promotes an attitude of success and is a positive influence on the whole team.

Lucy Walpole

Lucy joined the firm in May 2014 as a Paralegal and gained experience in the Personal Injury, Dispute Resolution, and Private Client departments before commencing her training contract in October 2016. Lucy graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2012 before going on to complete her Legal Practice Court at BPP Law School in London. She qualified as a Solicitor in Spring 2018. Lucy joined the firm in May 2014 as a Paralegal and gained experience in the Personal Injury, Dispute Resolution, and Private Client departments. Lucy was promoted to Trainee Solicitor in October 2016 and since then has gained extensive experience in handling high value and complex personal injury claims. Lucy graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2012 before going on to complete her Legal Practice Court at BPP Law School in London. She qualified as a Solicitor in Spring 2018. Lucy has a keen interest in civil litigation and specialises in personal injury and dispute resolution claims. She has experience in dealing with claims arising out of road traffic accidents, accidents at work, package holiday claims and slip and trip cases. She is currently working on a wide range of complex personal injury claims for clients who have suffered catastrophic and life-changing injuries. Lucy's caseload involves handling claims for clients who have suffered subtle brain damage which has gone undetected by the medical progression or been misdiagnosed as depression or PTSD. She also has experience in providing advice on claims against uninsured and untraced drivers, claims arising from criminal injuries and attending inquests. In her spare time, Lucy enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors enjoying summer bike rides and barbeques. Lucy has completed the North London half marathon and other local 5k and 10k runs for charity. She is currently trying her hand at DIY and home renovations. ​

Marsha Schwartz-Read

Marsha joined the firm in November 2015. She works closely with the Managing Director and also assists with administrative support across the firm. She always greets clients with a warm welcome and her bubbly personality is an asset of the firm.

Nidhi Chopra

Having previously been a Partner of the firm, Nidhi has returned as a Consultant Solicitor in the Personal Injury Department. Nidhi trained with the firm and qualified as a solicitor in 2010. She has vast experience in many areas of litigation including high value personal injury claims, clinical negligence, civil litigation, costs litigation and also employment law; she is also a qualified civil and commercial mediator. Nidhi is the mother to two young boys and enjoys keeping busy, as well as being an excellent solicitor she also runs a successful interior design business.

Peter Brown

Peter qualified as a solicitor in 1974 and for many years was a partner in Hertfordshire based firms. He has been associated with Garden House Solicitors since 2006 as a Consultant. Peter has wide ranging legal experience and currently specialises in Probate, Wills, Trusts and Conveyancing.

Ruth Allen

Ruth has worked for Garden House since it started in April 2006 and has 37 years' experience in Legal Accounts. She is a diplomaed member of The Institute of Legal Cashiers and Administrators. Ruth's position at Garden House is to assist in the smooth running of the practice by attending to the various financial transactions arising from the work of the firm and its internal operations. Ruth now works part time working closely with the Principal and the solicitors in the performance of her duties which entails dealing with all duties required as the COFA of the firm. Ruth has a rescue Lurcher called George, and he certainly keeps her busy! Her other interests and hobbies include supporting Watford Football Club, cooking, reading, theatre and catching up with family and friends. She is also a devout Elton John fan!
