In 2005, Kenny Crowe and John Ashfield met at the home of Paul Hulme. All three had been involved in the construction, building and letting of property of all shapes and types from private houses to commercial office buildings. It was felt by all three that there was a need to build affordable homes in Norfolk and Suffolk that have a real quality to them. They had seen the competition and were not impressed... The first project undertaken was a development opposite the site of the old swimming pool in Norwich. A very tight site with limited access and difficult services. The project was finished this year, by which time all thirteen units had been sold or let. With this site Portland Property Investments were entered by Mills Knight into the Archant Property awards, where Portland received a second in the small development category. A great start and a good point to build from.
