The Construction of Magnetism is a new concert work for brass band by Michael Pilley and is based on the song "Makin' Whoopee" by Gus Kahn & Walter Donaldson which was first popularised by Eddie Cantor in the 1928 musical Whoopee!... For Remembrance Day ceremonies, the use of Last Post and The Rouse is used to draw the symbolic association between the soldier's last duty of ‘sitting sentry' (death) and his ‘rising' above his mortal duties.
