Allan Wong

Job Titles:

Allan joined the Client Servicing Team in May 2023, following a previous role as a customer adviser with a global health insurance provider. He helps us to provide excellent customer service to all of our clients. Originally from Canada, Allan came to the UK to pursue his travels. When on holiday, he explores local villages, learns new languages and tries local foods. His hobbies include reading science fiction, watching films and playing sports.

Andrew Bongard

Andrew joined our team in September 2021, having previously worked in the financial services industry as a paraplanner, whilst also running a will-writing company. He has a degree in Economics from the University of East Anglia alongside his financial services qualifications. His role as an administrator involves Andrew supporting our financial advisers on a day to day basis, whilst developing his role within the company. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, baking and playing the guitar - but has since given up any aspirations to virtuosity.

Andrew DeGroot

Andrew works with our senior management team (SMT), where he supports our owners and directors with their strategic growth plans across all areas of the business. As a qualified executive and business coach, Andrew provides insight and support to ensure that our business goals are achieved. He is a Chartered Accountant, and has held senior global roles in the Financial Services industry across finance, operations, and change management. He is a natural innovator, who is client centric and has a great ability to inspire individuals to think differently.

Andrew Moss

He helps to ensure that they offer the best possible solutions… Read more Contact Andrew Andy started working with us as an external consultant in 2020, supporting our advisers with paraplanning. He helps to ensure that they offer the best possible solutions to meet our client's needs and objectives. He is a diploma-qualified freelance paraplanner, and has been in the industry since 1998 - spending 15 years with Norwich Union before branching out into financial advice and paraplanning from 2005. Andy decided to go freelance in March 2020, which has helped him to spend more time with his family. He is married with a young daughter and has a crazy cocker spaniel who keep him busy! He likes to keep fit, regularly attends the gym, and has participated in the Norwich 10k race to raise funds for charity.

Carole McMahon

Carole is a member of the Matthew Douglas Risk Team, providing guidance on the implementation of regulatory changes, maintenance of policies and monitoring procedures which form part of our risk framework, and supports the delivery of good outcomes to our clients. As a compliance consultant with Compliance and Training Solutions, she has worked with us since 2019 and has over 40 years of experience working with independent advisory firms. Carole uses her wealth of experience in compliance, training and competence, operations and financial advice to contribute to the team at Matthew Douglas.

Charlotte Goff

Charlotte joined our team in July 2022 on a part-time basis, with previous experience working in HR for the NHS, and as a primary school teacher. She graduated from the University of Kent with a joint honours degree in Law and Psychology in 2019, and in 2023 achieved a distinction in her Level 2 AAT-accredited bookkeeping qualification. Her role predominantly focuses on the financial aspects of the business, such as payroll, expenses and invoices, as well as keeping an eye on all company transactions. In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys spending time with her two young children, especially at the zoo and at the seaside. She also likes to read, watch musicals in London, and attend fitness classes when she has the time.

Chloe Smith

Chloe joined the Matthew Douglas team in August 2022, working in our client services department. Before this, she has worked in the haulage industry since leaving school in 2016, where she completed an apprenticeship - successfully gaining her BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration. In her role, she manages the admin for three of our advisers, and is also the personal assistant to our Managing Director, Matthew. In her spare time, Chloe enjoys being with her nephew and days out with her partner - especially shopping trips.

Frank Wampamba

Frank is a Financial Adviser here at Matthew Douglas, with a wealth of experience in mortgages and financial planning stretching back over 32 years. He also heads up our mortgages department. He began his career in 1990 with Abbey National as a mortgage administrator, then joining Prudential in 1994 as a personal financial adviser, before becoming an independent financial adviser in 1998. Frank studied Politics and International Relations at Essex University, and holds the Advanced Financial Planning Diploma for Financial Advisers, DipFA, Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice CeMAP. He is married with four children, is a keen sportsman with a passion for football and boxing - you'll catch him regularly being put through his paces at the Castle Boxing Club in Colchester!

Harry Badman

Harry brought years of valuable experience when he joined the team in January 2023, having previously worked within the business during summer 2020, following the completion of his studies in Business & Marketing (with a year in industry) at University of Lincoln. Harry is skilled in sales, project management, marketing and operations. He currently leads our client servicing team, whilst also supporting the business with our marketing and operational developments. Outside of work, he is passionate about playing golf - and is dedicated to improving his handicap. He also serves as the Head Coach for the Youth Girls section of Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, where he has been in this role since August 2020, following an injury which halted his playing career.

Jonathan Buttress

Jonathan helps to manage Matthew Douglas' discretionary portfolios with Evelyn Partners. His role revolves around support for specific clients, as well as general support with our model portfolios. He has been within the financial services and asset management industries for over 20 years, joining Evelyn Partners in 2021. He is also responsible for developing and enhancing our relationships with financial planners and wealth managers. Jonathan has also held roles with investment bond and pension providers, as well as discretionary fund managers, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience. Outside of work, he is married with two children, is a keen cricketer and footballer, and also coaches his son's football team.

Joshua Wilding

Joshua joined the team in February 2022, having previously worked in the financial sector as a debt caseworker with Citizens Advice. He graduated from Aberystwyth University with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in 2019. He successfully completed his financial adviser exams in December 2022, and is now working alongside our senior advisers to gather further industry knowledge and experience. Outside of work, Josh enjoys playing a variety of sports - mainly football and tennis. He also has a great passion for travelling and experiencing new cultures.

Mark Norman

Mark is an adviser and director at Matthew Douglas, having joined the firm in 2006. He has been in the financial services industry since 1994 and has seen a lot of changes, including three market crashes and the fallout from the supposed ‘pension simplification'. Having graduated from Bristol Business School in 1993, he has worked for Friends Provident in their graduate training scheme, then BFS Investments and finally AIG. This involved calling on financial advisers throughout the South East. He also spent time with a niche IFA firm, specialising in weighted index investing, where he learnt about Nobel prize-winning investment solutions. It was during his time at Friends Provident that he met Matthew and after a number of years, decided to join Matthew Douglas and become an IFA in 2006. He is a Chartered Adviser after many years of never-ending study and exams, and regularly attends CII events and seminars. He is married with two teenage children, and enjoys playing most sports. You can find him most Sundays running the line for his daughter's grassroots football team.

Martin Catchpole

Martin is one of the younger members of the team, having joined Matthew Douglas in late 2020, working in administration. He has a determined interest in the industry, and is currently undertaking a course in financial planning. Outside of the office, he likes to be near the sea. Martin has enjoyed boating from an early age, and hopes to be able to get out more on the kayak in the future. He enjoys other sports too, having competed in his local rugby team for a few years.

Maxine Catchpole

Maxine works as our Front of House Office Support and has been with Matthew Douglas since 2017. Previously, she worked for the local council - Tendring District - and at the local primary school that her children attended. Maxine is a key member of our team who likes to help and support our clients to the very best of her ability, always going above and beyond to deliver excellent customer service. Away from the office, she has a very creative side, and enjoys knitting to relax.

Oliver Pescott Frost

Oliver (aka Ollie) has been a member of our team since joining directly from university, having completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at Leeds Beckett University. He began in an administrative role, gaining knowledge and experience before completing his diploma in Financial Advice in 2022. He is one of a new generation of advisers at Matthew Douglas, and with this he brings a new perspective and mindset to the provision of independent financial advice. He is currently building on our established core values to ensure that the firm remains relevant and able to serve both our current clients, and also the next generation.

Paul Hardy

Paul joined our team in January 2018, having moved from a customer service and banking background with Nationwide Building Society. He then qualified as a financial adviser, quickly building solid relationships with our clients. Prior to qualifying as a financial adviser, Paul was primarily involved with managing the Client Servicing Team, which he had been a part of since he joined the firm. Away from work life, he is currently introducing lots of sports and activities to his young son, including golf - in the hope that he can nurture a ready-made golfing partner for later life! Paul likes to take control of the cooking at home, enjoying regular family mealtimes together.

Rebecca Pescott Frost

Rebecca is our Chief HR Officer and part of the Senior Management Team. She has been an integral part of the Matthew Douglas team since its inception in 2003. She has amassed a wealth of experience over her career both in pharmaceutical sales and working in social services. Rebecca has a first-class degree from Essex University and a master's degree in Refugee Care. Rebecca's focus is on team welfare and career development within Matthew Douglas and to strengthen its position as a diverse and great place to work. In Rebecca's spare time, she loves spending time with her grandchildren, keeping fit and ticking off her bucket list of places to visit. Rebecca is the Chief HR Officer and part of the Senior Management Team. She has been an integral part of the Matthew Douglas team since its inception in 2003…

Russell Brett

Russell's main role is advising our clients in the South East of England. Having opened a second office with the firm in 2014, he is regularly advising clients south of the Thames. As a Director, Russell also manages our advisers and heads up our marketing department, as well as responsibility for other regulatory roles. Russell previously held senior management positions in global companies, such as Pernod-Ricard and British American Tobacco. He is also a Chartered Associate of the London Institute of Banking & Finance. Similar to Company Director Matthew, Russell graduated from Southampton University with a BA (Hons) in Modern Languages in 1992. He has five children and lives with wife Rachael in Surrey. Russell has a passion for most sports, in particular hockey and snowboarding, and is a coach with Old Reigatians Rugby Club, as well as a regular volunteer with the Samaritans.

Thomas Pescott Frost

Thomas (aka Tom) joined Matthew Douglas in September 2021, graduating from the University of Kent with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics in 2017, following four years of teaching maths. He continues to implement his skills from teaching into his role with us - successfully completing his Diploma in Financial Advice in 2022. Tom is a keen sportsman, and was a regular hockey player at university. He continues to enjoy playing football and hockey regularly, as well as writing and playing music, having been introduced to the guitar from a young age.
