Adam Friday

Adam works as a Project Landscape Architect, delivering high quality residential schemes and landscape regeneration projects. Horticulturally trained, he is driven to provide high quality, creative planting schemes. Since joining fabrik, Adam has worked on a range of residential schemes, helping to deliver attractive and sustainable planting designs that enrich the landscape for both people living within them and the wildlife that we share it with.

Alex Baker - CTO

Alex is a Technical Director with a background in masterplanning and graphic design. He has an enthusiasm for creating practical design solutions which respond to today's climate, post-pandemic living requirements and the natural world. He has worked with a range of clients to prepare planning applications, masterplans, frameworks and pattern books across the country. He has worked on projects for both the public and private sector and has experience working in a number of top AJ100 architectural practices. He applies this experience to the inevitable challenges schemes present.

Andrew Smith

Job Titles:

Andy is a chartered Landscape Architect with over 15 years' experience, which he uses to help the next generation of landscape architects as a Pathway to Chartership mentor. Driven to create quality spaces at a range of scales to benefit the end users, Andy prides himself in his ability to deliver to the highest standards under demanding timescales. Specialising in landscape design, he provides concept design through to detailed design and delivery for large urban extensions, commercial and industrial schemes, brownfield and public realm sites. With a keen eye for presentation and detail, Andy blends creative proposals with a sound technical understanding of delivery. He enjoys collaborative working across the disciplines to ensure considered designs that meet the needs of both clients and end users of a site. Andrew specialises in contextually-led, high quality residential landscape masterplanning and detailing, an area of the market that he has worked in for both public and private sector clients. Andrew joined fabrik a year after we started to assist the growth of the practice. He is involved in a wide range of national projects in the residential, leisure, health and education sectors, and is passionate about influencing progressive change to national planning policy to elevate the design quality of all schemes. He is a highly experienced Expert Witness. He has an overview of the Operating Board and our masterplanning, landscape design, landscape planning and arboricultural workstreams. Closer to home, Andrew sits on the South Downs National Park and Coastal West Sussex Design Review Panels.

Becky Sanders

Becky is an experienced urban designer and is responsible for the masterplanning portfolio at fabrik. She brings a strong foundation of professional and academic knowledge, which she uses to continually guide and grow the practice's masterplanning expertise. An enthusiastic designer, she specialises in the preparation of visions, masterplans, planning applications and design codes for large-scale strategic sites. She has undertaken a wide range of professional work for both the public and private sector, including for strategic land promoters, housebuilders, private landowners, Homes England and various local authorities. Becky thrives on the challenges of greenfield development and complex regeneration sites, as well as being well-versed in the garden village agenda. She has extensive experience of collaborative engagement and the design panel review process, as well as acting as an Expert Witness.

Charlotte Kersley

Whilst Charlotte has a background in engineering, her passion is landscape design and horticulture. Since working at fabrik, she has been involved in a range of projects, from initial site feasibility through the planning process, to the various stages of construction detailing. Charlotte provides graphic support for Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments, hard and soft landscape plans, cross-sections and construction details. She is responsible for ensuring that the graphics and detailing for each project are presented in a clear and legible manner. Her clear communication aids co-ordination of proposals and project progression.

Chris Mimms

Chris is precise, analytical and process-driven; always interested in the detail of how landscape schemes work and the component parts fit together. He is technically adept and brings a wealth of knowledge to his role as a Technical Director. He has a remit across the practice to continually refine and develop our AutoCAD, graphic design and BIM protocols as part of our commitment to continuous learning for all employees. Chris has worked on a wide range of educational, caring, residential and commercial projects, taking ideas, sketch schemes, concepts and planning drawings forward into viable working drawings and construction details that are buildable and cost effective.

Debbie Muchmore

Job Titles:

Debbie has 30 years' experience in administration, working across various sectors including property, education, recruitment and fleet management. She has been with fabrik for the last 12 years. Together with the day-to-day running of our Hampshire studio, Debbie provides support with human resources. She also supports the health and safety functions of the practice, including maintaining our CHAS Premium Plus, ConstructionLine Gold and other accreditations. Debbie maintains our business development database and supports our Operating Board in providing statistical information. She has built a strong working relationship with all our suppliers and always looks to implement the most efficient processes.

Despoina Kouinoglou

Despoina joined fabrik in early 2023, bringing with her diverse experience in both UK and international projects, across a variety of scales. She has worked on numerous public realm schemes, as well as business parks, solar farms, residential and multi-use development schemes, both in urban and rural locations. Her experience includes developments that form parts of new towns, expansion of existing urban settlements, and urban regeneration schemes. Her passion and focus lie in the creation of nature-based landscapes that are sustainable, environmentally-friendly and climate-resilient, and which positively impact the social structures of the human environment. This passion led her to gain international experience in the educational and humanitarian sector, where she has been involved in developing new spatial design methodologies, organising educational programs and editing several books and catalogues. She is currently volunteering with the Humanitarian Landscape Collective and is a undertaking her pathway to chartership for the Landscape Institute.

Dhara Mariani

Dhara is an accomplished chartered landscape architect, with extensive experience in landscape design and project management. Driven by curiosity and passion for learning, she enjoys the coordination between other disciplines and life on a building site. Her problem-solving attitude, combined with welcoming new challenges, has provided her with expertise in Building Information Modelling in the realm of landscape design. Dhara has contributed to the delivery of all scales of projects, from national infrastructure and public realm, to high-end domestic clients. She always aims to create great places that offer both the client and end users unique experiences.

Dominique Nomico

Dominique believes that landscape architecture is a vital part of modern city living and is passionate about creating urban landscapes that focus on the human experience. Whether creating soft green spaces that offer an escape from the noise and chaos of life, or simply adding value and comfort to the hard spaces between buildings, she believes in the transformative power of landscape architecture for the benefit of people and the planet we call home. Dominique has experience working on a wide range of projects, from large-scale mixed-use developments to smaller-scale residential, retail, and educational schemes. She also has experience with masterplanning processes incorporating sustainable development of wetlands, green streetscapes, urban playgrounds and large public parks.

Doug Godfrey

Doug is a landscape architect with over twenty years' experience of landscape planning and design, for both the public and private realm. He has managed complex project types of varying scales, including parks and civic spaces, recreation and leisure facilities and residential schemes, and works confidently through all stages. Central to Doug's design philosophy and approach is his belief that listening to many voices and working collaboratively with clients, stakeholders and across multiple disciplines is key to addressing the most challenging issues. The result of this effort is his ability to produce solutions that are high-quality, inclusive and responsive to the project needs. Doug has extensive experience working in the United States and is a professionally licensed Landscape Architect in the US.

Greta Christensen

Originally from New Zealand, Greta has both UK and international experience in landscape design and delivery. She brings a wealth of design and technical knowledge, with her projects driven by a strong environmental ethos. Greta believes that as we shape the landscape around us, it shapes us in return. She is dedicated to delivering outstanding results that enrich community life and harmonise with nature. She has a strong understanding of the environmental and socio-economic benefits of well-designed landscapes. Her broad experience in the commercial, residential, and public sectors has given her valuable insight into developing landscapes that are accessible, sustainable and celebrate the uniqueness of each place she's fortunate to make a contribution to. She values her Trustee role at fabrik, advocating for others and upholding our enduring values.

Heidrun Goetz

Heidrun is an Associate with 20 years' experience in the landscape industry, gained through on a wide range of projects while living and working in Germany, United Arab Emirates and the UK. Her experience includes the development and delivery of large-scale mixed-use urban development projects and various residential, luxurious hospitality and retail schemes, as well as educational, recreational and public realm schemes. Heidrun enjoys creating inspiring, human-scale outdoor spaces, which not only function well, but also allow people to connect and experience nature through the course of their everyday life.

Isobel Duggan

Isobel emerged as an urban designer from a well-rounded background of social geography and spatial planning. She strives to create places and spaces in which people enjoy living, working and being, testing the design with the simple question - would she want to live or work there herself? Isobel has had the opportunity to work on a range of projects, from small-scale detailed infill sites to large-scale high-level masterplans. Isobel enjoys the varied nature of urban design, constantly improving her skills and continuing her professional development through learning from each project, bolstered by frequently attending talks from groups such as the Urban Design Group, Academy of Urbanism and London Society. She thrives working in a team, both internally with her colleagues and externally with the design team and client.

Jack Harris

Jack is a creative designer with strong visualisation skills. He is adept at the preparation of high quality CGIs, 3D visualisations and detailed masterplans. Jack is always looking at innovative techniques as a means of improving the built environment, for both people and the planet. He has had the opportunity to work on a spectrum of schemes at differing stages of the planning process, from Local Plan promotion through to the delivery of detailed design codes. He has experience in taking a forefront role in the running of projects, liaising with clients and external consultants, whilst mentoring junior members of the team. During the completion of his urban design studies, Jack worked within the public sector, where he specialised in urban design and historic conservation.

Jane Banks

Jane is a Landscape Architect with over 20 years' experience working in a variety of fields including education, residential, urban regeneration, social housing, recreation and leisure, and streetscape. Having worked in the Middle East for a number of years, Jane has a comprehensive understanding of the design and construction issues in this extreme climate and culture, and the complexities of working on large-scale projects with diverse multi-disciplinary teams. Within the UK, she has worked on a varied mix of schemes, incorporating skills ranging from conceptual design to construction detailing, podium landscapes to sustainable urban drainage, canal and riverside schemes, wetland boardwalks and playground design.

Jennifer Beckett

Jennifer is a Project Landscape Architect with a background in archaeology, which enables her to approach projects from a different perspective. Since joining fabrik in 2020, she has gained a broad range of experience and provides input to the landscape planning and design process. Jennifer supports landscape planning by applying the techniques of landscape and visual assessment to help shape proposed developments through the planning process. Her experience lies predominantly with residential schemes, including those in sensitive landscapes. Jennifer also provides landscape design expertise, developing ideas for emerging projects and assisting the delivery of high quality residential schemes and landscape regeneration projects. She enjoys the varied nature of projects and continues to look for opportunities to address current social, economic and environmental issues. She strives to grow as a professional and constantly develops her skills through learning from each project.

Joe Williams

Joe has qualifications in both urban design and architecture, and has extensive experience delivering urban strategies and masterplans as part of a multidisciplinary team. He has worked on a variety of projects, including sustainable urban extensions, estate regeneration, inner city waterfront redevelopments and town centre strategies. Joe has experience working within complex socio-economic contexts and assisted in the creation of a grassroots business association for the Old Kent Road, enabling local business proprietors to have a collective voice and a stake in the future regeneration of their neighbourhood. He is a passionate advocate of meaningful community engagement, having worked with residents throughout a two-year co-design process on the Carpenters Estate in Stratford. Joe has a mature understanding of the need for towns and cities to protect and enhance the identities and characteristics of their neighbourhoods and districts. As a result, he advocates the unparalleled contribution that high streets and mixed-use environments offer to creating an accessible, diverse and inclusive place, supporting a vibrant and resilient local economy.

John Clothier

John works in landscape architecture to deliver high quality designs that are fully integrated into the socio-biological systems of the area. He enjoys working with the materiality of the public realm, providing strong planting schemes and material pallets so that the landscape softens and accentuates built form. John's first ever job was at tree nursery, providing mature trees to the public and commercial sector, where he developed a strong knowledge of the practical side of the delivery of tree planting schemes. From this, John also saw the amazing benefits trees bring to a place and the many varied and interesting qualities they possess. His passion is to bring this knowledge into the schemes that he designs.

Kay Lung-Kendall

Kay is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over 18 years' experience. She has worked across a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, educational, leisure, public realm and urban regeneration schemes. Specialising in landscape design, she provides a holistic insight of design development, from strategic vision through to detailed design. Throughout this process, she enjoys collaborating with diverse multi-disciplinary teams, coordinating with clients and consultants to ensure a well-integrated design, that considers the needs of the client and that of the end users. Her passion is in shaping urban environments to promote social interaction, connecting people with their environment.

Laura Cox

Laura is a landscape planner with more than 20 years' experience in both the public and private sectors. She provides input to the planning and design process, coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments and preparing landscape, townscape and visual impact assessments and appraisals, along with Landscape and Environmental Management Plans. Laura prepares comprehensive masterplans to guide development and investment. She has experience of successfully preparing and implementing consultation strategies, including the facilitation of public consultation events. She has been involved in all aspects of the sustainability, environmental and landscape policy formulation and review process, including Sustainability Appraisals and Strategic Environmental Assessment.

Liliana Robins

Liliana joined fabrik following the completion of her MA in Landscape Architecture at the University of Sheffield, where she focussed on detailed design and climate-resilient tree research. She has a background in fine art, providing her with a strong drawing technique and a creative approach to landscape architecture. She strives to introduce an artistic perspective into the projects she works on. As a Project Landscape Architect, Liliana has experience with a broad spectrum of projects, from urban regeneration to residential schemes, and working at both strategic concept level through to detailed design.

Liz Simes

Liz has experience in all aspects of landscape architecture, but specialises in landscape planning. At the initial feasibility and site promotion stages of a project, she applies the techniques of landscape and visual assessment, and considers the project against the lessons learnt from the Appeal process, to inform recommendations for both greenfield and brownfield sites. She has extensive experience of assessing landscape, townscape and visual effects across a range of projects (including commercial, residential, minerals, waste and renewable energy) throughout the UK. She has undertaken assessments from within World Heritage Sites, National Landscapes, National Parks, Green Belts, historic parks and gardens, landscape gaps, Special Landscape Areas and Conservation Areas, and has been successful as an Expert Witness. She also has experience of both community and stakeholder consultation and the design panel review process.

Lucy Wilson

Lucy assists in the delivery of high-quality residential schemes and landscape regeneration projects. Her interests lie in viewing the landscape as a social product and she enjoys exploring the idea of how the landscape evolves over time through collaborative processes. Since starting at fabrik, Lucy has worked on co-designing and delivering Phoenix Park with the local community - a meanwhile park created as part of the Gascoigne estate regeneration in Barking. She has also worked on Woodberry Down Phase 4 and helps develop design ideas for emerging projects.

Mark Bell

Mark is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over 20 years' experience in the field. His portfolio embraces a wide range of sectors, including residential, public realm, transport infrastructure and hospitality. Much of his career has been spent working within multi-disciplinary studios. His work is delivered through iterative and open communication, and he believes strongly that environments of excellence are born out of energetic design discourse and intellectual interrogation, it is a philosophy that he deploys liberally as one of the Board Directors jointly responsible for the management of the Landscape Design workstream. Much of Mark's recent work has been in urban estate renewal and he has developed a keen understanding of the tensions within the sector. Community participation to enhance the design of homes and new places, and democratising open space are principal motivations in his work.

Nathan Onions

Nathan is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over 15 years' experience in the construction industry. Working as a supporting member of a well-established urban design team in the earlier part of his career, Nathan is confident working across various scales, from strategic new settlements to construction-level detailing. He has worked on a wide range of projects throughout the UK, including public realm, residential, podium gardens, retail, business parks and stadium schemes. Nathan is a safe pair of hands, capable of producing accurate, high quality design work with exceptional efficiency. He brings a flair for illustrative graphics, technical rigor in the production of all design material and a range of experience in both strategic and technical design. Nathan is a certified Building with Nature Assessor.

Nick Bailey

Since joining the construction industry in 1997, Nick has worked on landscape design projects of many natures across the globe. He is fortunate to have worked and collaborated on some of the world's largest, most complex, and extraordinary projects, which have pushed the boundaries of design - from demanding schemes with restricted timescales and strict budgets, to those which have utilised extensive resources to create amazing places. Nick is passionate about the quality of both production and product. He has a keen eye for maintaining operational standards and always strives to surpass expectations. He leads the technical delivery of the packages, whilst being involved through the design process to ensure buildability is there from the beginning.

Paul Barrett

Paul has spent all his professional life working for practices in London and has been responsible for managing the London Studio since joining fabrik in 2008. He takes an active role in projects at all stages, from inception through to construction. Paul has been an examiner for the Landscape Institute for a large part of his career and was a member of the working group responsible for the creation of the Pathway to Chartership. He supports professional progression to Chartership through reflective learning within the practice.

Paul Cope

Paul has been working in the landscape industry since 2001 and in this time has amassed a wealth of experience in the design and implementation of a broad range of projects. This includes urban regeneration, high quality public realm, high density urban residential, private penthouse gardens, healthcare and education facilities. Paul leads many large-scale and phased projects, including our portfolio of work in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. He is proactive and has a comprehensive understanding of working with diverse multi-disciplinary teams, resolving design and construction issues, as well as coordinating with clients, consultants and contractors. Paul thrives on the challenge of making exciting designs buildable and working with the design team to find solutions to deliver inspirational spaces.

Paula Hodgson

Paula is an experienced finance manager, responsible for the accounts function of the business, including day-to-day bookkeeping, monthly management accounts, payroll, HMRC submissions, company pension and healthcare administration, employee expenses and liaison with our external accountant. Paula joined fabrik ten years ago, previously working across a variety of sectors including communications, IT, retail, marketing and construction. Dedicated and loyal, she aims to provide the best possible service to both internal and external clients alike.

Paula Mendes

Paula works as an Associate Landscape Architect, delivering high quality residential schemes and public realm projects. She is a creative thinker and always aims to create meaningful design solutions that add value to the landscape. Her main interests lie in residential development and exploring the idea of how the landscape evolves over time through a collaborative process. From concept through to detailed design, she enjoys collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating with consultants, to ensure a well-integrated schemes that considers the needs of the client, end users and the environment.

Rose Woodfine

Rose gained her undergraduate and master's degree in landscape architecture at the University of Sheffield. She has a passion for understanding plants and what makes them thrive in the city, so that their biodiversity and social benefits can be delivered in densely populated urban environments. She has worked on a wide variety of sites, from site promotion of village extensions through to urban schools and inner-city public realm. She currently focuses on the technical delivery of complex multi-use high-rise developments and podium landscapes on brownfield sites. This necessitates keeping up-to-date with the latest construction industry standards, products, regulations and BIM processes. Her extensive experience of construction detailing and specification enable her designs to be grounded in buildability, ensuring projects of all scales and budget are delivered successfully.

Ross Dryburgh

Ross leads tree:fabrik, providing specialist arboricultural planning services across a range of projects. As a division of fabrik, this arboricultural arm complements the masterplanning, landscape planning and landscape architecture workstreams, and presents a seamless and holistic resource to clients, with the added benefits that come from a multi-disciplinary team. Through working as an arboricultural consultant at a well established, multi-disciplinary firm and latterly as Dover District Council's principal tree officer, Ross bring a wealth of knowledge and broad experience of trees within the planning environment. Realising the evolution of a landscape through recognition of these natural features is key to understanding a site's opportunities within the context of often competing constraints.

Sean Rushton

Sean is a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute, whose professional experience has been focused around the delivery of new communities across all stages of planning, in both the private and public sectors. He has over 10 years' experience as a landscape designer, landscape and visual impact assessment assessor, masterplanner and urban designer, for a wide variety of residential and mixed-use schemes, ranging from ten to 10,000 new homes. A major passion and focus of his work in recent years has revolved around how the built and natural environments work together to deliver active, healthy and climate resilient developments. His design philosophy is centred around creating imaginative design solutions underpinned by sound landscape analysis, and he uses this framework to communicate ideas to clients and stakeholders.

Shweta Desai

Shweta is an urban designer with a background in architecture. Her experience enables her to approach masterplanning from an architectural perspective, fostering the ability to collaborate and innovate. Her varied experience ranges from small-scale residential projects to large-scale mixed-use new communities. She leads and collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams, including architects, landscape architects, engineers and planners, to ensure the seamless integration of design elements through all stages of the masterplanning process. She has experience of working on both private and public sector projects, across the UK.

Simon Greig

Simon is a chartered landscape architect and botanist with over 30 years' experience. He is responsible for the landscape design workstream alongside Mark, and his main interests lie in the residential, public realm and commercial sectors. Simon has a real focus on delivering strong sustainable environments that make a difference and offer physiological benefits to the end user. He always looks for new ways to create sustainable communities and improve the quality of people's lives, by shaping, enhancing and protecting the environment they live in.
