Adam Scott

Amy Elliott

Job Titles:

Amy joined Aurora's team during the COVID-19 pandemic to become a trainee RPA and LPA. She is currently gaining experience in a large variety of sectors providing both ionising and non-ionising radiation safety advice and training. She has conducted surveys for ionising radiation, such as environmental land and life sciences based surveys, as well as surveys of electromagnetic fields in the workplace. Amy's innovative skills means she is a key member of Aurora's Training Services Team and has helped launch and further develop Aurora's online training courses. After completing an integrated Masters in Physics at Warwick University, Amy started work at the University of Oxford in the Oncology Biophysics core group in 2017. Alongside her Research Assistant job Amy took on the role of Radiation Protection Supervisor, responsible for supervising a wide range of radiation facilities and ensuring legislative compliance.

Angela Yeadon

Angela is a highly experienced radiation protection specialist and joined Aurora in 2015. She provides ionising and non-ionising radiation protection services to clients across many sectors and is especially adept at carrying out safety assessments for electromagnetic fields and optical radiation.

Charlie Scholtka

Charlie joined Aurora in 2023 after completing an MEng in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Birmingham, part of which included conducting laboratory experiments in gamma attenuation for a variety of shielding materials. Charlie is currently gaining experience as part of his development as an RPA/LPA and is also supporting projects conducted by Aurora's Site Services Team.

Colin Williams

Colin joined Aurora in 2022 as a Radiation Protection Technician after a varied career which has included work in the construction industry and as a laboratory technician. Since joining Aurora Colin has been learning quickly and has gotten involved in a range of project's including radiological remediation of a contaminated laboratory, a post operational radiological survey within a hospital's nuclear medicine department and a radiation walkover survey of a site historically used for nuclear research.

Craig Morrissey

Craig joined Aurora in 2012 and is a highly-respected RPA & RWA who has developed his knowledge base to encompass not only working for a large nuclear establishment but also academic and research facilities. Craig is Aurora's Director for Operations.

Dr Joel Garner

Joel studied undergraduate level chemistry at the University of Manchester, during which time he developed an interest in the nuclear industry and radioactive waste storage and treatment. In 2013 Joel began an Aurora sponsored Ph.D. in radiochemistry at Loughborough University. During this time, Joel conducted analysis of naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) produced by the UK's onshore oil and gas industry and published his work in the journal Minerals, and the Journal of Environmental Radioactivity. Since 2017, when Joel joined Aurora, he has gained experience delivering radiation protection awareness training and advising clients on the application of UK radiation protection legislation in a range of industrial and research settings. In 2020, Joel designed and delivered Aurora's first interactive online training course for Radiation Protection Supervisors. Joel has submitted his portfolio of evidence for accreditation which was accepted in September 2022 now making him a certified Radiation Protection Adviser, and on the 1st April 2023 Joel became certified as an Radioactive Waste Adviser. Joel also supports Aurora's R&D across the company; in particular Joel has been instrumental in the development of Aurora's radiation walkover survey system, the AuroraRadMap (ARM).

Jill Reay

Director, Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA), Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA), Medical Physics Expert (MPE) & Monte Carlo N-Particle eXtended (MCNPX) Specialist Jill was Aurora's first employee and was appointed as a Director early in 2015. She is a well-respected RPA across the medical sector, contributing to the second editions of IPEM Report 75 ‘Design and Shielding of Radiotherapy Facilities' and of the reference book ‘Practical Radiation Protection in Healthcare'.

Jon Taylor

Lindsey Simcox

After completing an undergraduate degree in Physics with Astrophysics and a MSc in Radiation and Environmental Protection, Lindsey joined Aurora in 2010 and soon became a certificated LPA and RPA. She routinely provides radiation safety advice to clients across many sectors who have a variety of ionising and non-ionising safety requirements, from large organisations to small users. Lindsey has worked with a number of organisations at the Corporate level providing RPA and LPA advice, which has enabled them to implement improvements across a number of sites. This has included innovative R&D companies who develop world leading products, and hospitals managing laser safety across many disciplines. This advice has included the production of policies and protocols and then conducing audits to assess how clients comply with the legal requirements. Lindsey is one of Aurora's Training Experts and excels in the delivery of training courses to clients. She is a key member of Aurora's Training Services Team and has created radiation protection training courses that can be delivered both face-to-face and online. Lindsey is a member of The Society for Radiological Protection (SRP) and has worked with the Society for many years to support those in the early stages of their career in radiation protection, including being the Chairperson of the Rising Generations Group for three years. In 2017 she was awarded the Society's Founders Medal for this work. Lindsey has presented at a number of conferences and events, both nationally and internationally. This included a presentation on the analysis of Marie Curie's notebook to ensure suitable radiation protection for its readers at an archive in London.

Neil has 29 years of experience working as a Health Physics Surveyor and is an exceptional site manager and surveyor. Neil joined Aurora in 2008 as a well-respected Health Physics Surveyor. He has become an essential part of the Aurora Team bringing his vast years of experience and knowledge of Health Physics to Aurora.

Orneste Buitkute

Orneste Buitkute Trainee Radiation Protection Adviser and Trainee Laser Protection Adviser Professional Orneste is a Trainee Radiation Protection Adviser and Trainee Laser Protection Adviser at Aurora. With a background in Physics, Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences, Orneste has experience with laser work environment, non-ionising radiation and electromagnetic shielding while building a 3-D super-resolution microscope at the University of Birmingham Medical School laboratory. She is currently gaining experience as part of her development and is supporting Aurora's Site Services Team on different projects. Attributes BSc in Physics (First Class) at the University of Hull. MSc in Mathematical Physics at the University of Nottingham. MSc in Topological Design: Interdisciplinary Sciences at the University of Birmingham. Paul Vine

Paul Vine Senior Health Physicist, Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS), Health Physics Surveyor & Site Manager Paul joined Aurora as a Health Physics Surveyor and RPS in 2010 and is an integral part of the Aurora Team. Professional Paul has 32 years of experience in the Nuclear Industry, 23 of which were spent working for the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) at the Winfrith site in Dorset. While at Winfrith, Paul's roles included Post Irradiation Examination (PIE) operative, Health Physics Surveyor and Lead Waste Assessor. Raj joined Aurora in 2006 as a senior RPA, RWA, LPA and NIR Specialist. He provides advice and radiation protection services to a wide variety of clients across all sectors, including advice to corporate clients on how to implement robust radiation protection practices across multiple sites. He also has many years of experience as a project manager for large decommissioning and remediation projects. Raj is Aurora's Director for Staff and Service Development; his role includes the development of Aurora's training services as well as the development of Aurora's radiation protection professionals. Raj has been a key member of Aurora's NIR Services Team which has led to the development of Aurora's services in this area. His client base is varied and covers many sectors for both ionising and non-ionising radiation and includes the medical, industrial, academic, research and military sectors.
