Alex Cole - CFO

Alex is the Chief Financial Officer, responsible for the leadership, direction and management of the Finance and Regulatory Reporting departments. He is a qualified chartered accountant (ACA). Alex was appointed to his current role in November 2018. He joined Ghana International Bank in September 2015. Prior to GHIB, Alex worked in the banking and capital markets sector in London as an auditor at Deloitte.

Calum Thomson

Calum is a qualified accountant with over 25 years' experience in the Financial Services industry. He is a Non-Executive Director and Audit Committee Chair of BLME plc.(SMF11 approved), The Diverse Income Trust plc., the AVI Global Trust plc., Baring Emerging Europe plc., Standard Life Private Equity plc., a Non-Executive Director of Schroder PensionManagement Ltd. (SIMF 14 approved and SID.), and a Non-Executive Director of SchroderUnit Trusts Ltd. (SIMF approved). He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tarbat Discovery Centre a small museum in Scotland. He acts as accounting advisor to the Audit Committee of Intercontinental Exchange. He was a partner at Deloitte LLP for over 21 years advising and reporting to audit and executive committees across a range of private, listed, and charitable organisations. His experience extends across the financial services sector from asset managers, to banks, general insurance companies, Lloyds syndicates and managing agents, as well as private equity funds and corporates. His clients have included a wide range of managers, investment trusts, banks, sovereign wealth funds, large charities, private equity funds, general insurers, syndicates and managing agents. During his career he has led Deloitte's global and UK asset management groups. He has acted as an arbitrator in a dispute between two majorlife companies, hasled a number of pension mis-selling compensation projects, led a large number of corporate finance assignments and was responsible for managing a large offshore trust and wealth company prior to sale.

Dean Adansi - CEO

Dean is CEO and Executive Director of the board of Ghana International Bank (GHIB). He is ultimately responsible for the strategic direction and executive leadership of the bank. Dean joined GHIB in 2019 after holding numerous executive roles in corporate banking and investment management. Dean was previously Chief Operating Officer of Wells Fargo's High Yield & Distressed Securities group. He started and developed Wells Fargo's European Multinational Corporate Banking group, with credit commitments of over $5 billion from some of Europe's largest corporates, including FTSE 100 companies. He was also responsible for Wells Fargo's Large Corporate Banking segment, covering 10 states in the Midwest and Southwest United States. Prior to that, Dean was instrumental in the establishment of a credit fund focused on investment grade fixed income securities, including high yield bond and leveraged loan investments.

Dr Christos Gabrielides - Chief Risk Officer

Christos is a highly experienced banking professional with a career in Treasury management and Risk management. Christos has worked as the Chief Risk Officer (and has been a holder of an approved Senior Manager Role by the PRA and FCA) of middle sized but fast-growing banks for over 15 years. Christos has significant experience in developing and implementing Risk Management Frameworks that are effective and fit for purpose for the risks and activities undertaken by the institutions. Christos has an excellent understanding of the key risk categories of market, credit, operational as well as compliance, financial and prudential which he developed through his banking career. He is familiar with the bank's key products and services and he has previously built risk management frameworks, Risk Appetite Statements, and appropriate Management Information so that management and the Board can monitor the level of risk taken and ensure that it is aligned with its key strategic objectives and risk appetite. Christos has an excellent understanding of the UK and European regulatory environment and he is commercially astute whilst being risk focused.

Dr Ernest Addison

Dr Ernest Kwamina Addison was appointed Governor of Bank of Ghana by the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in April 2017. Addison has spent over 25 years working in the public service, with a focus on Economic Development, Monetary Policy Formulation and Implementation, and Macroeconomic Surveillance. Governor Addison has demonstrated strong leadership, management and policy skills, and inspired confidence and credibility both within the Bank and throughout the financial sector. Accordingly, his tenure as Governor was extended for another four years by the President in 2021.

Dr Maxwell Opoku-Afari

Dr Maxwell Opoku-Afari is currently the First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Ghana International Bank and acts as the Chair of the Board Credit Committee. Dr Opoku-Afari obtained his degree in Economics with Statistics from the University of Ghana and his Doctorate from the University of Nottingham. He has extensive public finance and economic sector experience having held various positions within the Ghana Revenue Authority Board, Bank of Ghana Monetary Policy Committee, Ghana Interbank Payments and Settlement System Board, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre Board, Central Securities Depository Board, Ghana Fixed Income Market Steering Committee, IMF in Washington DC, the Bank of Ghana, UNU-WIDER) based in Helsinki, Finland, School of Economics and the University of Nottingham. Dr Opoku-Afari has published a number of articles which include: Tracking Short Term Dynamics of Economic Activity in LICs in the Absence of High Frequency Data, Fiscal Effects of Aid in Developing Countries: A Comparative Dynamic Analysis, Review of Macroeconomic Shocks and Policy Responses in Ghana and The Future of Domestic Capital Markets in Developing Countries.

Janet Mbu - Chief Legal Officer, Secretary

Janet is a City trained UK solicitor and is the Bank's Company Secretary, responsible for corporate governance and legal matters. She has over 20 years of legal and governance experience, most of which has been gained in-house in a number of sectors, including financial services, both in the UK and Nigeria . She joined the Bank in July 2019.

Kwame Sarpong

As General Manager for Operations, Kwame is responsible for managing and implementing change and process improvement, and for the timely delivery of business objectives. His role includes anticipating, developing and deploying strategic and tactical solutions to improve the bank's operating processes. He took up the role in August 2019. Kwame has spent over 20 years with Ghana International Bank. He previously worked for the Ghana Commercial Bank, London Branch for 15 years.

Lord Boateng

The Rt Hon the Lord Boateng PC DL was brought up in Ghana and the U.K. and was educated at the Accra Academy, Apsley Grammar School and the University of Bristol. He has qualified both as a Solicitor and Barrister. He was MP for Brent South 1987-2005 and served in various Ministerial roles in the U.K. Government between 1997 and 2005 joining the Cabinet in 2002 as Chief Secretary to the Treasury. He was the U.K. High Commissioner to South Africa between 2005-2009 and was elevated to the Peerage in 2010 as Lord Boateng of Akyem and Wembley. He currently serves on the International Relations and Defence Committee of the House of Lords and on a number of Commercial and Philanthropic Boards in the U.K., Africa and Switzerland in the Agriculture Water Utility and Development sectors. A Methodist Lay Preacher he Chairs the Anglican Archbishops Commission on Racial Justice. He is Chancellor of the University of Greenwich.

Richard Agbenu joined Ghana International Bank's Accra Representative Office in 2004 and has held various positions within Business Development and Credit Risk in both Accra and London. He is currently the Chief Commercial Officer, responsible for the Bank's Wholesale banking business including Corporate Banking and Treasury. Richard is an accomplished corporate banker, with over 25 years' experience in Structured Trade, Corporate and Correspondent Banking across Africa and the UK.

Sundeep Bhandari

Sundeep, is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director with Ghana International Bank,PNB International and British Arab Commercial Bank, Chairing the Board Risk Committee, Board Risk and Conduct Committee respectively. He is a Trustee with the charity, 15 billion-EBP, which delivers work and career related programmes with schools, employers for young people. Furthermore, as a Governor at Stanmore College, he is Chairs the Audit and Assurance Committee and has an association with the business school. Sundeep actively engages as a mentor with Virgin Start-ups supporting young entrepreneurs and is also mentor to the CEO of Maanch, an impact-platform for philanthropy, supporting investments towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He previously enjoyed both a domestic and International career in Financial Services with Standard Chartered Bank and Barclays, working in London, Singapore, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Dubai. Formerly, Managing Director, Co-Head of Wholesale Banking and Treasurer, South Asia and North East Asia respectively, Global Head of Internal Audit and prior to that he was the Group Chief Credit Officer. He supports community engagement programs and was formerly a guest speaker with HKUST MBA on Ethics & Management Dilemmas. Born in N.
