Carl is an actuary by qualification and spent 12 years working in the Insurance Industry in South Africa and the USA. He serves on the boards of numerous unlisted companies. He has been a member of the board of SA Bias Industries since 2005 and was appointed Group Managing Director in 2013. The Coutts-Trotter family control SA Bias together with their partner, Sabvest Limited.
Carl has been a board member of SA Bias Industries since 2005.
Carl is a qualified Actuary and spent 12 years working in the insurance industry.

I joined Whisper in 1996 when the previous owner set up the business. I was a minority shareholder. My partner in the business sold a majority to Flowmax. I kept my shares. He later sold the balance of his and moved on. Joining Flowmax Group in 2019 was a timely progression, giving us support and backing previously not available.

The opportunity arose to join Essco with the hope of completing an MBI/MBO. Three years into our journey with Flowmax, they have provided Essco with capital to grow the business and continue to challenge and encourage us to build a better, more efficient, enterprising business.
With undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in business, along with a diploma in Company Direction and 23 years of industry experience, I am passionate about building businesses that love their products, their customers and their people.
Matt has over 2 decades of industry experience and holds multiple business degrees.
Michelle leads on Marketing for three group companies.
Michelle originally joined CTS's marketing department in 2011 as a Business Management graduate from Birmingham University.
Support from CTS and the Flowmax management course supported Michelle's career progression to the marketing manager role.

Having grown Essco Controls successfully over the last few years I took the decision to look for a partner to invest in the business. Once a family business reaches a certain size the owners have to decide whether to try and push on to the next level alone or to bring in resource to help them grow.
Having looked at several options Flowmax stood out as the most suitable suitor. Their philosophy of maintaining owner involvement and autonomy appealed to me. They allow business owners complete discretion on how to run the business day to day whilst at the same time allowing us to benefit from being part of a much larger group.
Flowmax have allowed us to fund an acquisition within the first two year of ownership and Essco has grown substantially as a direct result of being part of the Group.
Prior to joining Flowmax, Richard has grown Essco Controls over the last few years as a family-run business.
