Carl is a qualified ACA accountant and also a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants. Carl has been with the company since 1996 and heads up our audit team bringing his skills and experience in developing systems and controls and in assessing risk to all of our clients. He specialises in small and medium enterprises as well as dealing with all aspects of corporate and personal taxation. Carl can advise on business start-up, and offers advice on business plans as well as profit forecasting and cash flow analysis.
Carl is passionate about working closely with his clients to provide pro-active tailored advice to minimise their tax liabilities.
Carl is married with three children. He is a keen sports follower especially the Swans and also coaches his sons' football team.
Laurence joined the firm after the death of Mr Gordon Down in 1988 when he and his partner Brian Harris acquired the practise.
Laurence is a scouser (Liverpudlian) and was born and bred off Penny Lane made famous by the Beatles song of the same name.
Laurence grew up in the 60's when Liverpool was to many the musical capital of the world, with so many famous groups and singers hailing from Liverpool's Cavern Club.
Surrounded by such musical legends it was only natural that he decided to become an accountant!!!
Laurence has worked for the large national accountancy firms, for large PLC's and has also been in business in his own right. So he has a genuine knowledge of the day to day challenges of running your own business.
Laurence has worked in the South Wales community since 1977. As well as assisting 100's of practise clients Laurence is also actively involved with Charities and sports organisations.
Lindsey graduated from the University of Wales, Cardiff in 2000 and joined the Gordon Down team in 2003. She became a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2008.
Her experience is largely in the preparation of annual accounts for companies, sole traders and partnerships, together with corporate and personal tax. She primarily focuses on the preparation of company and charity accounts. Lindsey also works closely with businesses in developing their accounting systems and accounts training.
She believes customer satisfaction is the key to a good business relationship and enjoys opportunities to add value to businesses.
Lindsey is married with one daughter and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Other interests include music and reading.
Philip has been part of the company for over 30 years and has a wide area of experience advising small and medium sized businesses. As a Chartered Accountant he has the necessary expertise to assist companies to develop and achieve their potential.
Having a number of business interests in addition to his role at Gordon Down & Company he is very acutely aware of the challenges that businesses face. Having the hands on experience he is able to relate to business owners and understand issues from their perspective.
Philip finds the most rewarding part of his job is the development of relationships with long term clients and sharing with then the ups and downs of business life.
Outside the office Philip's time is taken up with his large family and Church activities. He sometimes admits to supporting the Swans but actively avoids any physical exertion himself!
