ORMS - Key Persons
Alex joined Orms in 2017 after completing his Part II at the University of Sheffield and his Part I at Kingston University. During this time, he was involved in live projects for the Sheffield Buddhist Centre, the Incredible Edible Network and collaborative full-scale timber construction.
Prior to Orms, Alex worked on projects including a crematorium, new build church and various schools at Haverstock. In addition, he has worked on two residential towers at David Chipperfield Architects.
Alex is currently working on the 160 Old Street office development.
Alisha joined Orms in September 2017 after having completed her BA hons Part 1 at the University of Brighton.
During her studies she developed a speculative project set in 2061, which saw the traditional British Pub become a centre for sustainable food and energy production. This work was nominated for the RIBA Bronze Medal 2017.
Alisha is interested in the collaboration of Art and Architecture as practices and has volunteered in the production of a few art exhibitions and installation pieces.
Andrew joined Orms in 2014 and became an Associate in 2017. He is responsible for the studio's recruitment, design reviews and the curation of our research work.
He says, "Fostering creative talent and ensuring that Orms are passionate, innovative and joyful is a fulfilling and exciting task. Our involvement with the London School of Architecture is a great example of how we continue to develop the architectural profession."
Andrew heads up the studio's involvement with the London School of Architecture and is an established leader of one of the School's Design Think Tanks, which fuse research and architectural design. This year he has led the ‘Purpose and Pleasure' Design Think Tank investigating the Night time Economy through the lens of health and wellbeing. Previous research topics have included an exploration of the role of the metropolitan high street in the digital age and redesigning democracy.
Andrew leads the team delivering the complex St Giles mixed use scheme in London. His contribution has been vital in gaining planning and listed building consent, producing construction information and delivering the project on site.
Prior to joining Orms, Andrew studied in Glasgow, Chile and the Czech Republic, working in both the private and public sector in Glasgow on award winning projects.

Celia joined Orms in October 2017.
Prior to joining, Celia held positions in Christchurch, New Zealand and in London. Her experience in the post-earthquake Christchurch environment focused on educational and community projects. More recently in London she worked on high-end residential developments, gaining experience on a range of new build and alteration projects.
Colin McColl joined Orms in 2011 and became a Director in 2017.
He has over 20 years experience working on a range of projects across the education, residential, commercial, workplace and retail sectors. Colin is currently leading a number of commercial projects, including a co-working hub and complex refurbishment/new build in West London and a new build commercial office block in a sensitive location in Mayfair.
He says, "My career has included a number of buildings that are contemporary, but sensitive responses to their local context. I believe this creates an architecture that builds on and strengthens your personal relationship with the place."
This is particularly true for a number of education projects he has delivered, including the RIBA National award winning Uppingham School Science Centre which he also won Project Architect of the Year for in 2015. Colin is responsible for all aspects of the office Health & Safety Policies and gaining ISO 9001:2014 and 14001:2014 Quality and Environmental accreditation.
Daniel is the IT Manager at Orms. His main role is to administer and maintain the Orms' IT infrastructure, whilst constantly looking to move the use of technology within the practice forward.
He oversees all aspects of Orms' core IT services, including server infrastructure, wireless networking, cloud storage and remote working.
Daniel provides training, support & best practice advice to all staff.
Daniel is a qualified architect and joined Orms in February 2016. He studied at the University of Granada, Spain and the Faculté d'Architecture et d'Urbanisme in Mons, Belgium.
In the past years, he has been a key member of the team working to deliver St Giles Circus, a complex mixed-use scheme in London. His focus has been to complete construction information and leading St Giles Zone 2, involving the restoration and new build elements of 10 properties on Denmark Street.
Currently, he is part of the ‘Outernet' fit out team, our project at St Giles Circus. An ambitious and innovative global network of immersive entertainment districts showcasing music, film, arts and retail experiences using the largest LED screens in the world.
He has previously been involved in furniture design and calculating structures and has a particular interest in analogue photography and sustainable architecture. He believes in the honesty of the materials, and in showing their true nature.
Daniela joined Orms in 2007 and completed her Masters degree in Economics and MSc in Computer Science.
Prior to joining Orms, Daniela worked for many years as a PA.
Within her current role she provides administrative support to the Senior Management Team.
Additionally, Daniela provides support to other architects and team members when required and works with the studio manager to ensure the smooth running of the studio.
Daniela is interested in architecture and likes to attend Orms site visits to gain a better understanding of the projects development.
Diego joined Orms in March 2019.
Prior to joining Orms, Diego worked at a London practice for almost 2 years on a range of sports related projects, such as the Al Rayyan Stadium in Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and multi-sports arenas for the PanAmerican and ParapanAmerican Games in Peru.
He has also held positions in Colombia working on refurbishment and new build schemes for commercial buildings.
Currently at Orms, he is a member of the team working to deliver a fit out project in Central London and a new office development in Ealing Broadway.
Diego is a graduate of Javeriana University and a registered architect in Colombia.
Diogo is a graphic designer with several years of experience within the architecture industry. At Orms since 2022, he looks after our branding, style guides and conceptualises and creates design materials including signage and wayfinding for in-house and commercial projects.
Previously, he has worked with creative design and marketing agencies in the UK, Spain and Portugal. As a freelancer illustrator, his work has also been featured in a number of UK-based publications.
Diogo holds a degree in Visual Design and a Masters in Theory of Visual Culture from IADE School of Design in Lisbon.
Ellen joined Orms in 2018 after completing her Masters of Architecture in New Zealand and working on education projects in the public and private sector both in New Zealand and Australia.
At Orms, Ellen has worked on a variety of projects including mixed-use, commercial and residential. Currently, she is working on the Stage 2 design of a 10 storey new build office project located in Croydon.
She also has an interest in spatial conditions which facilitate different modes for accelerating innovation in the workplace and the interface between architecture and the natural environment and is a member of the in-house Sustainability team.
Janice joined Orms in 2008 and was appointed associate director in 2012, leading the financial aspects of the practice.
Before joining Orms, Janice was finance manager at DEGW for eight years. This, coupled with a broad range of previous experience encompassing architecture, advertising, fashion, beverages and property, means that her expertise is of significant value to the financial success of the practice.
She says, "My background in the construction industry has given me a strong insight into financial management within the professional services. A thorough understanding of the fee-earning - and design - process is essential if non-architectural staff are to contribute effectively to a practice's ongoing success."
Janice has also worked with charitable organisations, sitting on a number of committees managing hostel and outreach facilities for the homeless and substance abusers.
Jess joined Orms in 2019, previously having worked across a mix of commercial and conservation practices in London and Wales. On joining the practice Jess was leading on the listed building component of a large central London hotel scheme, Grange St Martins, which received planning consent in the autumn of 2020. More recently, she has been leading on a mixed use timber building in the heart of Soho and a new build scheme opposite the Tower of London which maximises opportunities for circularity.
Jess has a passion for collaboration and relishes that architecture requires emotional sensitivity on one hand and absolute precision on the other. Jess is part of the Wellbeing Group and is the elected Employee Representative sitting on the Board of Trustees.
Joao studied in Portugal and Austria, before completing his Master Degree in Architecture in Lisbon University, Portugal.
Before joining Orms in 2019, he worked in London, Doha and Melbourne. During this time, he worked on projects of different scales and sector, such as the Msheireb Museums in Doha, the St Paul's Girls' School Masterplan in London, and other commercial and residential buildings.
At Orms, Joao has joined the project team converting the former Central Saint Martins site into a new hotel and a mixed-use scheme involving a Grade II* Listed Building.
