Denise Pearson

Diane Lesley

Diane is a Parents Committee Member from the Vale of Glamorgan. She organises monthly social gatherings for carers in the Vale and is mum to a 19 year old son, who has Cerebral Palsy, Learning Difficulties, and ASD. Diane's interests are her family and religious beliefs which has led her to be more caring and understanding others needs, such as helping the elderly and those with disabilities. Diane likes reading, sewing, and visiting museums and castles,especially if Dr Who has been filmed in them! She is also studying British Sign Language in order to help people with hearing difficulties.

Esme Jewell

  • Carers Information Officer
Esme runs our information sharing services including facebook, Instagram and all online resources. When you receive a post from the parents federation it has likely been designed by our in house guru.

Isobel Sinnott-Newland

Job Titles:
  • Unpaid Carers Social Activity Co - Ordinator
Isobel organises a range of activities for unpaid carers ranging from social lunches and evening meals, afternoon cream teas, Pedal Power cycling sessions, spa days and even coach trips! All are free for unpaid carers

John Cushen

Job Titles:
  • Director
John has over 20 years experience of working in learning disability positions both in management at at grass roots support and volunteer level. He has experience of accommodation, daytime support, and voluntary supported activities and has helped set up several community based employment and environmental projects. John's son has various learning difficulties but is actively involved in community life in spite of his disabilities.

Nick Davies

Job Titles:
  • Wales Audit Office As Their Expert
Nick works for the Wales Audit Office as their expert on grants, including those for education and family support. His son, currently in residential college, is a young adult with Down's Syndrome. ‘ Nick is also on our Promoting Inclusion' awards panel which celebrates successful examples of integration at schools, workplaces and in the wider community. Nick lives in Cardiff with his wife, Sue.

Norbert Flynn

Norbert is a trustee and a founding member of the Parents' Federation. He is also a trustee with the All Wales Forum, The Friendly Trust, Ategi, and is chair of the Cardiff Mencap Society. Norbert and his wife have recently celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary and have 5 children. Their 4th child, Lizzy, has Cerebral Palsy and learning difficulties. Lizzy has been independently living in the community for 6 years. Norbert likes to play bridge and is also learning French.

Sue McFarland

Job Titles:

Sue is a Trustee and has been a member of the Parents' Federation since 1993. She also started the carers' social gatherings in the Vale, which have been running for over 10 years. These are very popular with parents and carers living in the Vale. Sue has a 24 year old daughter who has learning disabilities. Her son is a lawyer specialising in special educational needs, and was inspired by his sister to choose this career. Sue is very family-orientated and has 2 grandsons, aged 5 and 5 months.
