Griffin Coe

Job Titles:
  • Curator, Art
My interests in the collection extend from European Modernism, 1850-1950, with special reference to British art - especially the work and legacy of the Bloomsbury Group (including Duncan Grant, Roger Fry and Vanessa Bell) and the artists from the Camden Town Group: Spencer Gore, Walter Sickert, Augustus John and Robert Bevan. My curatorial responsibilities are also concerned with collection care and conservation. I was educated at the University of St. Andrews (Art History) and at Durham University where I took my MA degree. I joined the Art Team of Aberdeen Art Gallery in 2008.

Helen Fothergill

Job Titles:
  • Member of the Management Team
  • Service Manager - Archives, Gallery & Museums
I'm a jack of all trades and manage the collections team, who look after, curate, research, document, photograph, store, lend and care for the vast collections on display and held in store by Aberdeen City Council's art gallery and museums. Much of my time involves managing projects, seeking funding and looking for ways to support staff and visitors to get the best out of our collections and the city's heritage. I'm really interested in finding ways to add to the collections and collections information, keeping them relevant, world-class and discovering new ways to share the objects and information we hold.

Karen Jamieson

Job Titles:
  • Formal & Informal Learning Officer
Part of my role is to create resources and plan activities for learners, to ensure their experience is enjoyable and educational. Using our permanent collection as the starting point, I like to find ways to encourage discussion and build curiosity about our artworks and the history that surrounds them. My favourite part of the job is chatting with the public and hearing stories that our collection inspires. When I was growing up, Aberdeen Art Gallery was one of my favourite places in which to spend my time and I hope to pass on that enthusiasm to the next generation of learners.
