Brendan Morris

Brendan is an experienced tax specialist. After graduating from Queen's University Belfast with a First Class Honours Degree in Accounting, he completed his training with Grant Thornton in Belfast. He then availed of an opportunity to join the firm's London office for a three year term working their Corporate and International tax teams. A period in industry followed as UK Holding Companies Tax Adviser with Shell International Ltd and then Assistant Tax Controller for Europe with General Electric Consumer Finance, Dublin. Since returning to Belfast, Brendan has focused his tax expertise on general practice. This led him to set up BD Morris and Co in 2004 before merging with DTM, a practice of similar dimensions and ambition, to create BDM in 2008. He has applied his mix of commercial and practice experience in developing a comprehensive range of bespoke services designed specifically for the owner managed business. Brendan continues to be an active member of the NI Branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation since joining the Committee in 2005 and held the office of Chairman from 2009-2011. During his time as Chairman he played a lead role in capturing and formulating the response to the consultation process in respect of the devolution of corporation tax powers to the Northern Ireland Executive. This afforded him the opportunity of representing the Northern Ireland membership at Stormont and Westminster and via local media. He also developed strong links with the Irish Taxation Institute which led to the inaugural All Island Tax Seminar in September 2011 which he co-chaired.
