Dr Shiyana Eliyas

Having graduated from King's College London in 2002, with Distinction in Restorative Dentistry, Shiyana has gained experience in a variety of different environments that included dental teaching hospitals, district general hospitals, as well as National Health and Private practice. This included formalised training and staff grade posts in secondary care. She undertook her Specialty Training in Restorative Dentistry at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and completed a Head and Neck Oral Rehabilitation Fellowship in Manchester and Liverpool Dental Hospitals. Shiyana was involved in developing and delivering a 2-year training programme to upskill General Dental Practitioners in Endodontics, and went on to completed a Doctorate on the feasibility of measuring the quality of post-graduate education in endodontics in primary care using outcomes of endodontic treatment and has published widely. She has supported the British Society of Prosthodontics and a number of it's past presidents during her time as the Honorary Secretary for the society. Her current position as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at St George's University Hospital Foundation Trust includes the delivery of complex restorative dental treatment and the management of patients who have undergone treatment for head and neck oncology, those with dental developmental disorders and those who have suffered major trauma to the oral cavity, working closely with surgical and medical teams across the hospital. Shiyana has been involved in teaching and training general dental practitioners, dental foundation trainees, dental core trainees and specialty trainees, as well as serving as an external examiner for post-graduate training.

Dr Suresh Nayar

Dr Nayar joined iRSM and the University of Alberta in 2013. He was a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in UK since 2009. He currently chairs the Website and Social Media Committee on the Board of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics since 2019. He is the Hon. Web Editor of the European Prosthodontic Association since 2008. He has been the Hon. Secretary of the British Society of Prosthodontics from 2009-12 and currently serves as the International Representative. He was an examiner for the MJDF & ORE exams from 2007 - 2013. He was also the Regional Advisor in Restorative Dentistry for Royal College of Surgeons of England from 2010 to 2013. His current research interest includes improving quality of life in head and neck cancer patients; use of digital technologies and additive manufacturing in advanced jaw reconstruction and maxillofacial prosthodontics; development of a virtual reality planning and educational software; use of AI in diagnosis of adverse tissue reaction around osseointegrated implants, among others. He is the director the advanced jaw reconstruction workshop at iRSM. He chairs the "Oral and Dental Care clinical guideline review team" for the Provincial Head and Neck Tumour Team of Alberta, Canada. He supervises the MSc programme in Surgical Design and Simulation and the Fellowship programme in maxillofacial prosthodontics.

Miss Pamela Yule

Pamela is currently Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Newcastle Dental Hospital. She has been on the specialist list in Restorative Dentistry since 2015, and previously was a Consultant at Leeds Dental Institute. Her clinical practice incorporates all aspects of Restorative Dentistry (such as Endodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry) and particularly the treatment of patients requiring complex and advanced restorative treatment need, including multi-disciplinary care. She has a particular interest in the treatment of head and neck cancer patients, and those with cleft lip/palate. Qualifying BDS in 2006 from Newcastle University, Pamela went on to complete various junior posts in Scotland in General Dental Practice, Glasgow Dental Hospital, Crosshouse Hospital and Aberdeen Dental School & Hospital, covering all dental specialties including OMFS. She obtained MFDS in 2008 from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Pamela started 5 year specialist training in Restorative Dentistry in 2010 at Newcastle Dental Hospital and graduated with a Masters Degree in Restorative Dentistry with Distinction in 2013. She was awarded the TC White Researcher Grant for her Masters Project; ‘OHIP-TMDs: A patient-reported outcome measure for Temporomandibular Disorders' and presented this research internationally. Pamela also holds an Honorary contract as an Associate Clinical Lecturer with Newcastle University and teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has numerous publications and is an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Miss Stephanie King

Stephanie was appointed Locum Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Liverpool University Dental Hospital, and a is a GDC registered specialist in Prosthodontics. She qualified from King's College London in 2009 and undertook a number of core training posts across Yorkshire and the North-West, during which time she obtained the MFDS, RCS Edinburgh. Stephanie then spent time working in Special Care Dentistry in secondary care, before returning to Yorkshire to work as a General Dental Practitioner for three years. During her time in practice, she also obtained a Master of Research (DPH) with Distinction from the University of Manchester, and a PG Cert in Restorative Dentistry. Stephanie commenced specialty training in 2016, with her early years Restorative training being split site between Liverpool and Manchester Dental Hospital, and senior years full time in Liverpool. Throughout training Stephanie completed the PG Cert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education at the University of Liverpool, so holds Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy, and was awarded the Membership of Prosthodontics, RCS Ed in 2021, and FDS Rest Dent 2022. Stephanie is heavily involved in postgraduate education, regularly providing lectures and hands-on training to GDPs and DCTs on a National basis on a range of restorative topics including toothwear, fixed and removable prosthetics and occlusion.

Mr James Owens - President

James qualified from Cardiff Dental School in 1991. After vocational training and a period in general practice he returned to Cardiff as a Senior House Officer in Prosthodontics where he completed his Fellowship in Dental Surgery. James then spent 2 years in Bristol Dental School where he completed an MSc in oral antimicrobials and plaque control agents. He then returned to Cardiff again as a Lecturer and Honorary Specialist Registrar in Restorative where he completed his CCST in Restorative Dentistry and MRD in Prosthodontics in 2002. James was appointed Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Morriston Hospital Swansea in 2003. He has worked across all facets of Restorative Dentistry but has a special interest in the dental care and post-operative oral rehabilitation of head and neck cancer patients. He is Clinical Lead for Restorative Dentistry at Morriston and Lead for Restorative Dentistry on the All Wales Cancer Network. He has produced several papers and poster presentations on the dental rehabilitation of oral cancer patients. James enjoys and has been heavily involved with postgraduate education and training, conducting many postgraduate courses for GDP's and DCT's. He has also helped organise and run the Head and Neck Dental Rehabilitation course for Specialist Trainees at Morriston since 2008. James has previously been RCS Specialty Advisor for Wales and examines for RCS Edinburgh He is currently the Training Programme Director for Restorative Dentistry in Wales.
