CITY DENTAL - Key Persons
Colin Caster qualified as a Dental Technician in 1980 and worked in the Oral Surgery Department at Middlesbrough General Hospital.
He later moved to Newcastle Dental Hospital in 1981 and took advanced qualifications in prosthetics, crown and bridge and maxillo facial technology.
In 1986 Colin left Newcastle Dental Hospital to set up A-line Dental Services and expanded the laboratory to be the largest independent dental laboratory in the north east. A-line Dental Services has always kept up-to-date with the latest technologies and advances in dentistry. It was also the first laboratory in the UK to be ISO registered and one of the first to introduce all ceramic crowns and digital technology.
In 2010, in conjunction with Mark Maley, Colin established City Dental. With a combined technical knowledge of over 50 years, they decided that there was a need for a dental surgery that was capable of dealing with patients who required treatments that were above and beyond what was normally achieved on the NHS.
With an ethos of an expert in every field, City Dental uses Rob Banks (Oral Surgeon); to fit implants, Alexandra Seymour (Dentist), Stephanie Docherty (Dentist), Kushbah Begum (Dentist) and Jordon Heron (Dentist); for restorative work, Andrew Graham (CDT), Clare Rankin (CDT) and Mark Maley (CDT); for denture construction, Melanie Flinders (Hygienist); oral maintenance and Victoria Gray (Dental Nurse), Rebecca Holland (Dental Nurse), Karlie Taylor (Dental Nurse) and Estra Grant (Dental Nurse); are all experienced nurses and finally myself, Colin Caster, for technical backup with A-line Dental Services. City Dental has an expert in every field.
Estra is a qualified Dental Nurse at City Dental, Sunderland. She achieved her level 3 NVQ in dental nursing with City & Guilds in December 2021. Since qualifying she is very keen to develop her career in dentistry and is excited to start a Dental Radiography qualification.

Mark is the manager of City Dental. In 2009 Mark attended the esteemed Edinburgh Dental Institute and qualified as a Clinical Dental Technician (CDT), giving him the ability to treat patients one-on-one for denture construction.
Having this prestigious qualification means that he was one of the very first British Clinical Dental Technicians to be recognised by the General Dental Council. Mark gained his first qualification as a Dental Technician in 1988 and studied for advanced certifications until 1992. With this wealth of qualifications and experience Mark is responsible for all implant and advanced denture cases.
Mark is the Deputy Chair of the advisory board and examination board for Dental Care Professionals with RCSEd and also an examiner and question bank manager for CDT qualifications with RCSEd.
Mireille qualified in 1991 and has worked in various regions of the UK, in the Far East and briefly in the USA, bringing a wealth of experience to her practice. She has been teaching clinical skills at Teesside University for the past seven years, and has a City & Guilds qualification in coaching & mentoring. Her care and compassion towards her patients, means that your treatment will be carried out in a calm and comfortable way.
Away from dentistry, Mireille enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is a keen cook, and photographer, and is partial to live jazz.
Rob has been involved in all aspects of implantology since 1993 including training, education and lecturing. He is able to provide all aspects of implant dentistry as well as bone augmentation and sinus lifting; he has a particular interest in immediate loading and function of implants and zygomatic implants. These interests have come together in the provision of ‘All-on-4® Treatment Concept' giving teeth in a day. Rob is able to provide full mouth reconstruction where there is insufficient bone for conventional implants.
