Jelena Jovanovic is a Professor at the Department of Software Engineering, University of Belgrade, Serbia. She is teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in programming, applied artificial intelligence, and social network analysis. As a researcher, she used to be primarily focused on semantic technologies, particularly, Semantic Web / Linked Data technologies, and their application in the educational domain. In recent years her focus has shifted towards statistical / machine learning methods and techniques, social network analysis, text analytics, and other computational approaches that allow for data analysis and extraction of meaningful information from raw data. She is particularly interested in combining human and machine intelligence for better understanding of the learning process and making thus obtained insights actionable by communicating them to teachers and/or learners as a meaningful feedback.
