We also have a thriving choir that performs regularly for events in school, in the parish and beyond... We are part of the Saint Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy and a Voluntary Aided Catholic Primary School, governed and maintained by the Archdiocese of Birmingham working in partnership with Birmingham Education Authority... Our explicit phonics teaching begins in the first week of Reception and follows a careful, research-based sequence that allows children to build on their previous phonic knowledge and master all phonic strategies as they move through school. As a result, all our children are able to tackle any unfamiliar words that they may discover. We also model these phonic strategies in shared reading and writing both inside and outside of the phonics lesson and across the curriculum and school.
