SAFFRON RESTAURANT

Saffron Restaurant first opened in Oldbury back in 2003. It was then a modest 40 cover eatery with an ambition to break the mould of Indian restaurants and attempt something new. The menu consisted of regional dishes from the subcontinent that were truly Indian. A huge risk of omitting the British influences such as Chicken Tikka Masalla and Vindaloo was at first met with some resistance by diners expecting their favourites. This was gradually overcome and the Saffron brand began to shine. Within the first 18 months, the restaurant was extended to 70 covers. A host of accolades including Best Regional Restaurant award given by the Good Food guide initiated further expansion to 96 capacity.
