David Adams

David Adams joined the company in 1992, having completed a three-year course in engineering at Corby Technical College, and then progressed through the operating sections of the company to gain proficiency in glass blowing processes and the filling of luminous light sources. He gradually acquired through contact and co-operation with customers over their precise needs, respecting luminance in signs, displays and instrumentation dials, an appreciable knowledge of the design parameters, criteria and technology for a wide range of self-luminous products, a range which is always being expanded and extended to different industries and countries. In 2003 David was appointed to the post of Production Manager with a remit to consolidate his department's achievements, manage the increasing volumes of production and to cater for that expansion into world markets which we are experiencing through his drive and enthusiasm.

Dennis Palmer

College educated, Dennis has a long record as a successful entrepreneur in his own right, which continues currently. He is linked uniquely to Surelite as being the surviving practicing glass product designer in this the only company in the UK to produce glass components for safety-of-life applications and "twenty-five year life" non-maintenance sign units.

Derek Adams

Job Titles:
  • Operations Technician
Derek Adams is Surelite's Rigs Operations technician. Derek is our "Tube-forming technician" and is involved in much of our throughput - in particular the drawing of the "neck" in the tubes preparatory to their filling by his brother David.

Douglas Williams

Job Titles:
  • Consultant to UKAEA / BNFL
Douglas Williams has lectured at Bristol, Cranfield and Bradford Universities and is the former Chairman of Technology Transfer Services Limited through a joint holding with that university. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Petroleum and has been accepted as an affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Mechanical Engineers. Further, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has served in his own businesses continuously throughout these periods, currently as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Alsigns-Surelite Limited, which is the holding company of Alsigns [Best-Surelite] Self Powered Limited.

Robert E. Chapman

Robert E. Chapman MSc, BSc, MCLIP has been the Managing Director of both Alsigns (Best-Surelite) Self-Powered Ltd and its parent company Alsigns-Surelite Ltd since 1995. Robert joined the company in 1995 in the post of Research Consultant (Hydrogen Light Technology) and Company Secretary, having previously pursued a career in the chemical industry at Albright & Wilson Limited in Whitehaven, Cumbria, where he worked as a technical sales chemist and then as a patents information officer in the Business Studies Unit of the company. Robert has lectured in computer studies at Uxbridge and Slough. Currently he is head of management and carries the responsibilities of overseeing compliance under the requirements of the applicable Radiological and Data Protection regulations as well as supervising the legislative provisions and their applicability to Health and Safety.
