St James Church

St James Church is part of the Scottish Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion. It welcomes people of all backgrounds, whether they have been part of a church or not. Its members have had a variety of faith journeys and such diversity of faith is treasured and valued. The congregation of St James numbers around 80 active members who are involved in contributing to services and the life and outreach of the church. We enjoy getting together and have a number of social functions through the year as well as an often prolonged after church coffee time as folk catch up with each other. We have a wide range of ages from older adults to many in mid-life and a small number of younger families including children and teenagers. Built in 1980, the church building is unique in its modern architecture; it integrates furnishings from various churches closed during the mid-to-late twentieth century redevelopment of north Glasgow. One visitor described St James as the best example of a modern church building he had seen. Together with a sense of peace it has a warm and welcoming feel to it, and this is also true of its people.
