Stokenham is one of the largest parishes in the South Hams of Devon, covering the southern half of Start Bay, from Slapton Ley to Start Point and on to Lannacombe Beach. It encompasses the coastal settlements of Torcross, Beesands, and Hallsands; the villages of Beeson, Kellaton, Kernborough, and Dunstone; numerous hamlets and isolated dwellings; and the main population centres of Chillington and of course Stokenham village itself. The parish covers an area of 21 square kilometres, almost all of which sits within the South Devon National Landscape (AONB as was). Its permanent population of around 2,000 is swollen in the summer by many thousands of happy holidaymakers, here to enjoy all that our fabulous location has to offer...
