Alan Davidson

Amanda Regan

Amanda joined QNIS in January 2018 having relocated from Luton. Following an initial career in hotel management, her working life has focussed on providing support to healthcare leaders, most recently as President's Office Manager/Executive Assistant to the President at the Royal College of Anaesthetists in London. Amanda enjoys working in the Third Sector and, in particular, knowing that the level of support she provides enables healthcare professionals to devote more of their precious time to improving healthcare delivery. Amanda is looking forward to learning about the Scottish healthcare system and to meeting community nurses to discover more about their contribution to the health and wellbeing of the population.

Catriona McClelland

Catriona joined QNIS in May 2020 as an administrator, working predominantly to provide administrative support to the Queen's Nursing programme. After graduating with a language degree from the University of St Andrews, Catriona spent a year developing her communication and administration skills in the tourism industry before moving to the charity sector. Catriona has previously worked in public facing roles in both the UK and abroad and thrives in a people-oriented environment. She particularly enjoys collaborating with people from different backgrounds and cultures and loves learning from others. Catriona is looking forward to learning more about community nursing and the positive effect Queen's Nurses have on the community. She endeavours to work hard to learn how best to support the Queen's Nurses.

Dr Jonathan Sher

Job Titles:
  • Senior Fellow at the Queen 's Nursing Institute Scotland
Jonathan is now the Senior Fellow at the Queen's Nursing Institute Scotland. He serves as the Programme Lead for QNIS' new initiative ‘Healthier Pregnancies, Better Lives'. This programme of work is supported by Cattanach and The National Lottery Community Fund. Since moving to Scotland from the USA in 2005, Jonathan has served as the Director of Research, Policy and Programmes at Children in Scotland and then as the Scotland Director of WAVE Trust. He has an established track record of work on rural issues, child and family health and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and has written many published articles and reports. He joined the QNIS staff as Deputy Director in September 2018. Jonathan has admired the reach and accomplishments of Scotland's community nurses. He believes it is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with them more closely with a focus on preconception health, education and care.

Dr Sarah Doyle

Sarah joined QNIS in September 2020. Originally a community mental health nurse, she brings thirty years of experience across clinical practice, national workforce development, training, supervision, consultancy, academic teaching and research. She has led projects and programmes of work for NHS Education for Scotland and completed her doctoral research with a scholarship from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). Throughout her career, Sarah has been interested in helping create the conditions required for sensitive, expert nursing practice, and she recognises the importance of a range of individual, organisational, political, and societal factors in the creation of these conditions. She knows that QNIS - Scotland focused, UK connected and globally aware - is a great place to continue this work.

Miss Anne Jarvie

QNIS is saddened to hear of the passing of Miss Anne Jarvie CBE. We were privileged to have her serve as Chair of our Council from 2010-2014. QNIS greatly benefitted from her wisdom, integrity, and expert guidance during this time. Miss Jarvie had an illustrious career as a nurse leader, making a huge difference to the profession as Chief Nursing Officer for Scotland. In recognition of her work, she was awarded a CBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours List in 2000. At our 2014 Annual Gathering, she was awarded an honorary fellowship in recognition of her four years as our Chair of Council. She will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
