Our origins hark back to the 17th Century. Our brand, Thomas Lyte, is named after the Antiquary and Historian of the same name. Thomas Lyte was given a royal gift by King James I for tracing and documenting the King's genealogy. That gift is known as the Lyte Jewel. The Jewel was made by Nicholas Hilliard, and contains twenty-five square table diamonds, set in an oval gold frame. The piece adorns four rose diamonds, and encases a portrait of the young King and remains on display at the British Museum, as part of the Waddesdon Bequest collection...
