I was lucky enough to secure a post on Ward 15 at PRH and since commencing my role on the 8th April 2018 I have received a warm welcome by all the team and so much support which is enabling me to adapt, build on my knowledge and gain confidence in order to progress forward in my career as a staff nurse. Following the recruitment day SATH held a celebration evening in order to welcome all new recruits to the trust which was also informative of all the support and learning opportunities available to staff. I really enjoy continuity of care and building therapeutic relationships with my patients. My background in renal helped me understand how a skin condition can really debilitate someone's mental and physical health. I started working in Dermatology in August 2023 and since then, my role in the department has evolved. My role is varied, and you may see me for many different appointments however, I primarily work as a Dermatology Skin Cancer Nurse alongside Esther and Jo, who're the departments McMillan Clinical Nurse Specialists. I see patients on my own and I will involve my colleagues if I feel I need a second opinion. I also work with our lead skin cancer Consultant Dr Oliwiecki and see you for results. Additionally, if you have been referred via our Teledermatology service I will likely be in contact with you if you require a minor procedure(s). In relation to this, you may also see me in person assisting one of our surgeons when you come in for a procedure. Wherever I am in the department, my role is closely related to helping the skin cancer service.
