Bill qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1986 with Healey and Baker working in the retail property sector. He then spent six years at Phillips Auctioneers' Bond Street head office as a valuer of fine art and antique furniture.
From 1994 to 2003 Bill worked for Chubb Insurance specialising in the insurance of high value houses, fine art, jewellery and cars. As European Appraisal Manager he was responsible for a team of surveyors in the UK and continental Europe. Seeing the opportunity for a specialist broker offering bespoke insurance and personal service, he founded Porticus in 2003.
Bill's background in property, fine art and insurance gives him particularly relevant experience in high value home insurance. In addition to his role as Managing Director, Bill has particular responsibility for marketing and new business which often involves meeting clients assessing values and advising on the most suitable insurance programme.
Bill's interests include classic cars and rowing. He is a former Great Britain international oarsman and Commonwealth Games gold medal winner. Bill graduated in 1983 from Kingston University with a BSc in Estate Management.
Shirley's insurance career began in 2007 working with protection insurance products with Covéa Insurance (Sterling Insurance) such as Personal Accident, Personal Injury insurance and then moved into Business Loan Repayment insurance and Payment Protection insurance. During her experience she has become well-versed in maximising new business opportunities to increase profitability as well as maximising existing books of business.
Shirley joined Porticus Insurance in October 2020. She brings a can do attitude with a hands-on approach to her work and thrives on building robust relationships with her clients across the board as well as delivering great client service.
Shirley's interests include, running, walking in London's amazing parks, travelling and spending time at home in Ireland.
