Alan Hartley

Job Titles:

Alan qualified with distinction from Liverpool University in 1999 and joined Cedarmount in 2007 after working in Dungannon and Yorkshire. He became a partner in Cedarmount, with Craig in 2013. Alan has a particular interest in surgery, especially orthopaedics. In November 2017, Alan passed his Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice. Studying for a RCVS Cert AVP covers all aspects of clinical practice with modules in Professional Skills, Clinical Skills and 3 specialist modules for which Alan chose Small Animal Surgery. The certificate involves many hours of studying, requiring case logs and detailed case reports, as well as 2 written exams at the RVC in London. Alan's interest in orthopaedics has enabled Cedarmount to offer one of the most recent developments in cruciate surgery, the MMP, a version of Tibial Tuberosity Advancement, with great success so far. In his spare time, Alan is a keen amateur photographer, when time allows, with a family of 3 at home!

Claire Gardner RVN

Claire qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in December 2022. As part of her exams, she achieved the highest marks in her year in the OSCE practical exams. We are so pleased Claire has done so well, and has been rewarded for all of her hard work over the years. Claire joins our experienced RVN team and will be a great asset to Cedarmount.

Craig Reilly

I love my job. Being a vet in my home town is a great privilege. I qualified with distinction in Medicine from the Dick Vet College, Edinburgh in 1987. In 2002, I was the first vet in Northern Ireland to successfully complete the RCVS Certificate of Small Animal Medicine (the word "Certificate" perhaps fails to fully reflect the complexity and difficulty of this extra qualification - hard work!).

Danny Gawn RVN

Hailing from Stirling, we are delighted to have another cheery Scot to the team. Many of you will remember Danny as our resident photographer from the puppy parties, and a keen student of the Japanese language and is becoming the practice expert in all things gardening. Danny qualified as a fully-fledged RVN in 2021and is a great addition to our nursing team. He is also currently studying towards a Veterinary Nursing Certificate in Anaesthesia.

Dara McClintock

Dara is a fantastic addition to our team of qualified Veterinary Nurses. She has a keen interest in further development of her career and has recently passed her Nursing Certificate in Anaesthesia which involved many hours of learning, course work and exams. This is a great benefit to Cedarmount in keeping us up to date with the latest anaesthesia techniques to keep our patients as safe as possible. Dara also runs our Puppy Parties. With help from a local dog trainer, these fun and educational evenings are designed to help our new puppies with some basic health and training advice, and are usually on a Monday evening.

Eimear Lambe

Eimear qualified from Cambridge University in 2019. After starting off her career in mixed practice, she joined us in 2021 to concentrate on small animal work. Eimear has settled into our team extremely well and is enjoying the wide variety of clinical cases we see on a daily basis.

Elaine joined our team at Cedarmount in September 2017. She brings great enthusiasm and cheerfulness to the job and will be helping out in various roles in the practice including reception, administration and kennel duties.

Emma Larmour RVN

Emma has many roles as "Head Nurse" at Cedarmount. She is involved in the day to day nursing of in-patients and surgical patients, organising and running our fabulous puppy parties, other nurse clinics, many other behind the scenes management tasks and also has the unenviable task of dealing with insurance claims. She was awarded Hill's Pet Nutrition Irish Veterinary Nurse of the Year Award in 2009 and was described by the judges as "an outstanding ambassador for Veterinary Science".

Helen Hall

Helen joined our reception team in September 2017 and hails from Yorkshire, where she worked in an emergency Veterinary Clinic. Helen has just moved to Bangor and is looking forward to getting to know everyone and the local area.

Helen Judge

Helen qualified from Bristol University School of Veterinary Sciences in 2011. She has completed her Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in 2022 despite taking some time out on maternity leave. Helen is a great member of our vet team and it's great to have her back.

Jacqui Shephard

We are very pleased that Jacqui has joined Cedarmount's veterinary nurse assistant team. She has lots of experience as she has been working with dogs at a local boarding kennels for fourteen years. Having a variety of animals at home, from dogs to chickens, she enjoys working with any type of animal and is looking forward to gaining more knowledge of working with small animals and learning about all the different roles our nurse assistants have in looking after your pets when in our care. As well as working with animals, Jacqui enjoys spending time outdoors exploring local forests and landmarks with her family.

Joanne Burns

Joanne has come back to Cedarmount to join both our Animal Nurse Assistant team, and our reception and admin team. We are delighted to have her back after a short spell away. Joanne is experienced in all aspects of practice management, and is a great asset to have.

Katie Wright

Katie qualified from Glasgow University with distinction in 2009 and has since gone on to complete her Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Small Animal Medicine. In 2021, Katie achieved Advanced Practitioner status in Small Animal Medicine, becoming one of only a few vets in Northern Ireland with this qualification. Katie worked in Australia for many years before returning to NI. We were delighted that Katie joined Cedarmount in 2020 and as an Advanced Practitioner, she will be highly involved in our complex medicine cases and referrals.

Kylie Quinn RVN

Kylie is an enthusiastic RVN with a great love of horses and her own dog! Kylie is our Cat Friendly Clinic "Cat Advocate". This role is part of our Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation and Kylie is the one to ask about all things cats! In 2019, Kylie passed her International Cat Care Certificate in Feline Nursing. Kylie has also completed her Oral Care Certificate for dogs and cats, and her Certificate in Small Animal Nutrition (Cert SAN) for dogs and cats.

Lisa Moore RVN

Lisa has rejoined the veterinary nurse profession after a few years away from nursing, working at a local veterinary diagnostic laboratory and having a family. Lisa is a great asset to the practice and is active in many local conservation and youth organisations outside the practice. Lisa was awarded Vet Nurse of the Year 2023 at a Gala dinner for the Agria Veterinary Community Awards in April. We are all so proud of her achievements, it is so well deserved.

Melinda Connolly

Michelle was awarded Second Place in the whole of Northern Ireland for her nursing exams in 2009. She is extremely dedicated to her role as one of our veterinary nurse team and takes an active role in all of our nurse clinics for our "weightwatchers", dental checks, elderly animals etc, as well as the daily nursing duties, to ensure all of our patients get the level of care and attention they deserve.

Michelle Campbell

Michelle has developed her roles in Cedarmount from joining as a kennel assistant, to now spending much more time at the reception and organising our pet food sales.
