Adela Laverick

Adela is experienced in all aspects of conventional and implant, fixed and removable prosthodontics. She underwent her specialist training in London and has been involved in implant prosthodontics for the more than twelve years. Adela is also a member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI). In her spare time Adela likes to be outdoors walking in the Scottish hills and gardening. She also enjoys reading, and is a member of two book clubs (and she tells us it's not just for the wine and girlie gossip!) Adela also enjoys cooking and entertaining and sharing time with family and friends.

Aileen Kelly

Aileen is a member of the clerical team who started at Blackhills in 2011. She enjoys going to gym, watching Ireland play rugby and drinking Guinness and Gin.

Brian Stevenson

Brian graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2000 and spent the first few years of his career as a General Dental Practitioner in Edinburgh. He subsequently completed a PhD at the University of Edinburgh whilst working and teaching at both Edinburgh and Glasgow Dental Hospitals. He undertook an accredited five year training in Restorative Dentistry at Dundee and Aberdeen Dental Hospitals. He has been employed as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry in Dundee Dental Hospital since 2011. He is registered with The General Dental Council as a specialist in both Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics. Away from work, Brian enjoys spending time with his family and likes to keep fit by cycling and running.

Donald Thomson

Donald trained in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology in Glasgow and Dundee and is a consultant at Edinburgh Dental Institute. Donald has considerable experience in teaching and examining in the UK and abroad. He is a member of the British Society for Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology and the International Association of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology, and is also a member of the Central Council of the European Academy of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology.

Gemma Duffy

Gemma started with Blackhills for 11 years but has been a Dental Nurse for 22 years. In her spare time Gemma enjoys running and cycling. She likes to go on family adventures and travelling.

Graeme Lillywhite

Job Titles:
  • Specialist in Prosthodontics
Graeme is a Specialist in Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He was also Senior Clinical Lecturer at Aberdeen University Dental School. He is now working alongside the other Specialists at Blackhills to provide a highly regarded referral service to dental colleagues and their patients across Scotland and beyond. Graeme graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1993 and spent time in various hospital posts and general dental practice before embarking upon specialist training in Prosthodontics and then Restorative Dentistry. He has a large commitment to teaching and training and lectures throughout the UK on aspects of Restorative and Implant Dentistry. Graeme welcomes referrals for restorative dentistry and fixed prosthodontics. After hours, Graeme is a dental addict and spends a considerable time keeping abreast of the ever evolving developments in Dentistry. However, he enjoys nothing more than spending time with family and friends whether it be at home, in the garden, on a beach or out on a bike.

Kelsey Suomalainen

Kelsey started dental nursing 2021 and qualified February 2023. She joined the Blackhills' team in July 2023. Outside of work Kelsey enjoys seeing family, going to the gym and trying new foods/restaurants. Also love spending time with her cat.

Kirsty Cartmail

Kirsty Graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2005, whilst serving time in the Royal Army Dental Corps (RADC). Kirsty is also a member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene Therapy (BSDHT) and the International Team for Implantology (ITI). Kirsty has served in various countries around the world including areas of conflict, concluding her military career as the Senior Hygienist in Northern Ireland. Kirsty has worked as a Hygienist in the Perthshire area, since returning to her home town. She prides herself in Explanation and Demonstration, strongly believing that education is key to good Oral Health. In her spare time, Kirsty enjoys the countryside, the beaches, walks in the hills, wild camping and spending quality tine with her family.

Kirsty McEwen

Kirsty has been a Dental Nurse for 10 years, over 2 Dental Pratices. She joined Blackhills in July 2020. In her spare time Kirsty enjoys hill walking, kayaking and paddleboarding, spending time outdoors on adventures with her 3 boys. Also socialising with friends and family.

Lorna Harley

Lorna graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2001. She is registered with the General Dental Council as a specialist in Endodontics, having completed her specialist training at Dundee Dental Hospital in 2010. Lorna is also a member of the British Endodontic Society. In her spare time Lorna likes to spend time with her family and enjoys keeping fit by running.

Lynn McGlashan

Lynn started dental nursing in 2003. She has been with Blackhills for 9 years. Lynn has 2 children and a pet hamster. In her spare time she enjoys going to the gym, running and making pancakes every sunday with the kids.

Marilou Ciantar

Marilou undertook postgraduate training in Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Institute (EDI) in London and subsequently read for a PhD degree also at EDI, during this period she was part-time lecturer in Periodontology. Thereafter she underwent training in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine and became a member and fellow of Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England and Ireland. Marilou registered as a specialist Periodontist in 2000 and Oral Surgeon in 2007. Marilou has worked as a lecturer in oral surgery at the University of Dundee, University of Aberdeen and was a part-time Senior Clinical Lecturer in Periodontology at Edinburgh Dental Institute, the University of Edinburgh. . Marilou is a member and an Ambassador of the British Society of Periodontology and British Dental Association. She is a fellow of International Team for Implantology (ITI) and Co-Director of the Perthshire ITI Study Club. In her spare time Marilou enjoys crafting, countryside walks, gardening, cooking, flower arranging and hot weather!! Marilou has recently become involved with fundraising for charities and is hoping to get more involved as the year goes on.

Nadir Khan

Nadir graduated from Glasgow Dental School in 1986 has been working as an oral surgeon for 30 years and over the past 27 years involved in the surgical aspect of dental implantology and complex oral reconstructive surgery . He has been an examiner on the Edinburgh Royal College Dental Implant diploma and has held posts of Associate Specialist in Maxillofacial surgery and Consultant Oral Surgeon. He offers treatments under IV sedation and is registered as a Specialist Oral Surgeon.

Rachel Stock

Rachel started Dental Nursing in 2008, she joined Blackhills in 2016. Rachel carries out reception duties aswell as working in the clinics. Rachel loves spending time with family and friends. Going on holidays and being outdoors.

Roxanne Hausrath

Roxanne started Dental Nursing in 2007 and joined Blackhills 7 years ago. She was successfully promoted to the role of Senior Nurse in April 2022. Roxanne is one of our qualified Sedation Nurses so is able to support our sedation trained Clinicians during procedures carried out under Intravenous Sedation. Roxanne enjoys spending time with her family and going on holiday. She likes to socialise with friends and going on walks with her sausage dog.

Sian Mailer

Sian started Dental Nursing in 2000 and joined Blackhills in 2017. Sian carries out reception duties aswell as working in clinics. She is currently working towards her Sedation Nurse qualification. Sian enjoys drumming and travelling with her Pipe Band. She enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children.

Stacy Macdonald

Stacy started dental nursing in 2001 and was one of the first to join the Blackhills Team in 2007. She has been an implant nurse for 15 years, having started working with Paul Stone in 2004. Stacy is one of our qualified Sedation Nurses so is able to support our sedation trained Clinicians during procedures carried out under Intravenous Sedation. In her spare time Stacy likes to spend time with her family and going for long walks with their dog Cleo. She also likes to make cakes for family and friends.

Stephen Ferrier

Job Titles:

Stephen graduated from the University of Dundee and initially trained as a General Dental Practitioner in the east of Scotland. A period of hospital training followed at Newcastle Dental Hospital & School, where he gained Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Stephen returned to Dundee to complete his PhD and became a Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at Leeds University. He left the UK for Canada to take up a position as a professor in restorative dentistry, where he took part in teaching all aspects of restorative dentistry, including implantology. Stephen returned to the UK in 2021 and we were delighted he decided to join our team in April 2022. Stephen is a Member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and the British Dental Association.

Trudie Imrie

Job Titles:

Trudie is our Clinic Manager and has been with Blackhills since the first day we opened. Trudie previously worked with Paul Stone at Perth Royal Infirmary and was responsible for the administration of his private implant referral work. Trudie has a wide range of skills from working in several different industries; hospitality, travel, and Healthcare. Before joining Blackhills, Trudie was the Manager for two National Managed Clinical Networks in Scotland (Cleft Lip & Palate Service & Phototherapy Service). She continues in her spare time to administer the charity (Scottish Association for Cleft Lip and Palate) whose aim is to help raise funds for research and education into the cause of orofacial clefting.
