SHEPPARDS - Key Persons
After qualifying and specialising in tax with a "big 4" firm of accountants, I decided to specialise in family businesses, their owners, and personal clients. I became a partner in Sheppards in 1980, and haven't regretted my decision!
Over the years I've advised a wide variety of clients- from tiny businesses, to large family owned companies; and from simple tax return cases, to high net worth individuals - in all aspects of their business, financial and tax affairs.
Away from work my interests are sport, socialising, and spending time with my wife and adult children. I'm also a trustee of Genesis, which is the UK's only charity dedicated to breast cancer prevention.
I am a dual chartered and chartered certified accountant and became a partner at Sheppards in 2002.
Before becoming an accountant in practice my background was in businesses, and I can therefore understand the issues that our clients encounter on a day to day basis. Because I think like our clients I offer solutions that will work in the real world.
I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1998 with first time passes and went on to specialise in tax becoming a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2001.
Since starting with Sheppards in 1994 I have gained experience on a wide range of accounting, business and tax issues. Since 2001 my role has gradually expanded into predominantly advising family owned businesses, individuals, partnerships and trusts both on compliance and planning matters including VAT and Inheritance Tax in addition to personal and company tax and dealing with HMRC enquiries.
