Alicia Buckingham

Job Titles:

Alicia joined Herbert Scott in January 2020 as their Technical Manager, heading up the team of Financial Planning Assistants (FPAs) and supporting the Financial Planners with client reports and recommendations. As part of the wider growth and development of the firm, Alicia has since transitioned into the exciting and rewarding role of Financial Planner. Alicia acquired Chartered Financial Planner status in June 2019 and has over 13 years' experience in the Financial Services sector, having previously worked at St. James's Place and Just Group, formerly JRP Group plc. She qualified to give Financial Advice in 2016, having gained Diploma status with The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), however opted to remain in a specialised support function where she could build upon her knowledge of the industry. Through the combination of industry qualifications and gaining a broad exposure to all areas of financial planning and products, Alicia moved quickly up through the ranks of administration, into Paraplanning, and then Management, becoming a specialist in the technical aspects of Financial Planning. Having now transitioned into a Financial Planning role, she hopes to be able to use her experience to help clients manage their financial affairs and work towards their long-term financial goals. Having studied English at the University of Birmingham and leaving with a 1 st class BA Hons degree, Alicia has retained a passion for literature. As well as reading, Alicia's time outside of work is mainly spent with her family. Alicia lives in Brighton with her husband, Daniel, and son, Charlie, aged 2.

Ben Nolan

Job Titles:
  • Chartered Financial Planner
Having enjoyed varied temporary roles with Lloyds Private Banking and Preferred Mortgages the development of Ben's career in financial services truly began in 2006 when he joined a national firm of IFAs which subsequently became part of the Close Brothers Group. Through the combination of industry qualifications and gaining exposure to all areas of financial planning Ben developed his skills and progressed to the role of paraplanner and technical expert; joining Herbert Scott in this function in 2013 supporting the existing financial planners. Through the acquisition of further experience and continued professional development, in 2018 as part of the wider growth and development of the firm, Ben began his transition into a Financial Planner. This culminated in Ben acquiring his Chartered Financial Planner status together with authorisation from the FCA in July 2019. Having grown up in Haywards Heath, Ben now lives in Lewes with his partner Emma. When not partaking in the local café culture, Ben will most likely be enjoying one of his other passions of sport, particularly rugby, movies, or travel.

Daniel Brooks

Job Titles:
  • Financial Planning Assistant
Daniel joined Herbert Scott in October 2022, and is a Financial Planning Assistant. Having achieved an undergraduate degree in History at the University of Kent, Daniel took on a role working for a self-invested pension company. In this job, he discovered a genuine interest in Financial Services but found the most rewarding part of his job to be working closely with clients and finding solutions to help them achieve their goals. In his current role at Herbert Scott, Daniel is a Financial Planning Assistant, meaning that he is the main point of contact for our clients. He works closely to support the Financial Planners, assisting by preparing for meetings, writing reports and updating cash flow plans. Daniel recently achieved the CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, and now plans to work towards acquiring Chartered Status. Outside of work, Daniel is a devoted Arsenal fan, and enjoys reading, playing squash, bouldering, and going for sea swims.

Daniel Rudden

Job Titles:
  • Financial Planning Assistant
Daniel joined as an Administrator in September 2022. Having achieved a First class in his degree in Economics from City, University of London, Daniel decided to follow a passion for personal finance and pursue a career in financial planning. Currently starting out as an administrator, Daniel is looking to learn the financial planning journey comprehensively, building on his technical knowledge as he progresses through each role with the long-term goal of becoming Chartered. Outside of work Daniel likes to cook (but mainly eat) having previously worked as a chef in Borough Market. To balance this out he enjoys playing football, going to the gym, and walking the Downs with friends.

Hannah Bibby

Job Titles:
  • Practice Manager
Hannah has worked in the finance industry since she left Brighton University in 2010. She enrolled on a graduate scheme to become a Financial Adviser. During this time, she achieved her Certificate and then Diploma in Financial Services. In November 2013, she started as a Paraplanner at Herbert Scott and has enjoyed providing bespoke client advice with the help of cash flow modelling. In 2017, Hannah was delighted to accept the position of Practice Manager and develop her career into management. She now focuses her time on developing and maintaining the firm's compliance, HR and facilities. After taking time out of the ‘exam' world to have her two girls, she is ready to pick up the study book once more to achieve her goal of becoming Chartered. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys her lifelong passion of ballet. She also enjoys sporty holidays to include wakeboarding in the summer and skiing in the winter!

Jennie Snooks - COO

Job Titles:
  • Operations Director
Jennie joined Herbert Scott in November 2012 bringing with her ten years' worth of administrative experience and knowledge of financial services. Jennie has progressed from being an Administrator to Operations Director. She is responsible for the administration of the team and maintaining the office efficiency by planning and implementing new procedures and processes. Away from work, Jennie enjoys spending time with her husband, Dean, and three boys. She is a keen baker and often brings her cakes into the office where they are warmly received!

Jodie Norman

Job Titles:
  • Financial Planning Assistant
Jodie joined Herbert Scott as our apprentice in September 2013 after completing her AS Levels at college. After achieving an NVQ in Level 2 Business and Administration in October 2014 she became a full time member of staff and has now completed her Diploma in Regulated Financial Services. Jodie is one of our Financial Planning Assistants meaning she is our client's main contact. Her responsibilities include arranging appointments, preparing for meetings, writing reports and updating clients' cash flow plans. Jodie recently completed the Brighton Marathon and enjoys taking part in regular running events. Outside of work, she enjoys running, reading and going for walks with her husband and Cocker Spaniel puppy, Otis.

Kevin Scott

Kevin's career in financial services started in 1981 when he joined NatWest Bank. During his nine years with the company he gained experience and qualifications across all aspects of the business and achieved the professional qualification of Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. Ready for a new challenge, Kevin made the move to financial planning in 1990, initially with Abbey Life, where he met future business partner David Herbert. Together, they branched out to form Herbert Scott & Co in 1996, which was eventually to become Herbert Scott Ltd. Kevin is committed to ongoing professional development and in 2004 was awarded Fellowship of the Personal Finance Society, the highest financial planning designation available to practitioners in the UK. The following year he became one of the first professional advisers to be awarded Chartered Financial Planner status. Kevin is experienced in all areas of financial planning and has particular expertise in estate planning, trusts and tax. He is a registered Society of Trust and Estate Practitioner. Born and bred in Lewes, Kevin is a familiar figure in the local community. His local interests are diverse and range from trustee of the charity, Patina Lewes, to playing bass guitar in a covers band and riding his Harley-Davidson. "When David and I set up Herbert Scott in 1996 we knew we wanted the firm to succeed well into the future, beyond our own retirement. We knew we'd have to invest heavily in the firm to achieve this and build a team to provide the highest quality client experience. We embrace new technology and we're constantly on the lookout for innovative ways to deliver a superior service. At the heart of this is our desire to help our clients plan properly to enjoy the life they want for themselves."

Sean Banks

Sean has enjoyed over 10 years in Financial Services, having started his career with Lloyds Banking Group where he discovered a passion for helping people with their finances. This sparked the desire to pursue a career in financial planning, which has seen Sean work his way through the ranks from his early days as an administrator, right through to financial planner. Sean prides himself on the close relationships he has with his clients; built on a foundation of trust, empathy and mutual understanding. He works collaboratively with people to get them from where they are to where they want to be, helping to achieve personal and financial goals for them and their families. Outside of work, few hours go by where Sean is not involved in some sort of sporting activity. His main passions are football and golf, whilst also remaining a regular at the gym. He ran the Brighton Marathon in 2018 which, although a great experience, he has vowed to be his first and last! Away from sporting interests, Sean's time is spent with wife Amy, daughter Mia and their close friends and family. Sean is a relentless reader, forever in the middle of two or three books at once and is an avid listener of podcasts and audio books. His other passions include travel (the all-inclusive kind), food and comedy.

Stacey Chamberlain

Stacey joins Herbert Scott as a Chartered Financial Planner after moving from Birmingham where she was born and bred to live the southern life in Brighton, well Hove Actually. Stacey was looking to join a company that aligns their values with hers of putting the client first and Herbert Scott was the perfect fit. Stacey gained Chartered Financial Planner status in 2020 and achieved a Fellowship of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 2020, the highest level of qualification you can accomplish within the profession. Although she doesn't want to stop there, her next qualification venture will see her gain further knowledge within ESG and ethical investing, a topic she is incredibly passionate about. Stacey brings over 15 years of experience within the financial services profession, working within a private bank, small IFAs and until recently the largest IFA in the UK working with clients from all walks of life. She has been featured in The Times as a top-rated financial adviser in the UK. Outside of work, Stacey can be found doing DIY on her new home (to her husband Sean's dismay), yoga, tennis, driving ranges and enjoying wine.

Tracey Payne

Job Titles:

Tracey brings with her over thirty years of experience in financial services, firstly in London with Hogg Robinson IFA, then working as a Discretionary Fund Manager for Adams & Remers Solicitors in Lewes and Thesis Asset Management at Gatwick and Brighton. She is studying towards becoming a Chartered Financial Planner, has a BA Hons Degree in Financial Services and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI). As our Investment Director, Tracey is charged with developing the firm's Investment Philosophy in order to build the value of funds under management. "Without doubt, the best part of my role is when you know you have done a good job for a client and that your involvement in their life has made a positive difference," says Tracey. Tracey lives in Hurstpierpoint with husband Richard and son Oliver, aged 15. Her daughter, Sophie, is 21 and is studying medicine at Oxford University. Outside of work, Tracey is Secretary of the local tennis club where she plays for the ladies' teams and when not on court, she is often found enjoying a good walk with her dog in the fields around Hurstpierpoint. She also lists running, gardening, and cooking for friends as some of her favourite pastimes.
