Dwayne Fields

Born on the island of Jamaica, Dwayne Fields moved to London at the age of six. He grew up in an inner-city part of London where gang-life was rife and he himself was the victim of both gun and knife crime. Dwayne decided to change everything about his life and in 2010 he became the first young black Briton to walk the three hundred and seventy miles across the ice sheet to reach the Magnetic North Pole. Dwayne had become an adventurer and an explorer. Prior to following his passion and raising all of the funds to reach the pole, Dwayne had already achieved an honours degree in psychology, international development and business management and had spent three years serving as an electrical mechanical engineer on the London Underground. Today Dwayne works with young people in some of the most disadvantaged inner city areas in Britain. He is an ambassador for the Scout Association, Ordnance Survey, National Trust, Woodland Trust, and he is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. In 2013 in recognition of his achievements he was awarded the Freedom of the City of London. In 2019 Dwayne and his expedition partner, Phoebe Smith, set off on a mission to show to young people the fantastic possibilities of epic adventuring in the UK. They highlighted critical environmental issues close to home and turned a spotlight on vital conservation needs in an expedition from the most northerly to the most southerly points of Great Britain in their Seabirds to South adventure. They walked the same distance that they are going to walk in their planned upcoming 2022 carbon-neutral Antarctica mission. The project will take a group of young people to the southern continent on a chartered expedition ship via their own #WeTwo Foundation. On television Dwayne has appeared on SpringWatch Unsprung with Chris Packham and the Daily Politics Show. Dwayne is available for booking for webcast, virtual and face-to-face in-person engagements.
