Luke is a former Welsh and British international and was triple senior British Champion at under 81kg. International highlights include winning the Canadian Open twice and taking silver and bronze medals at the British Open. Luke is also a World Cup medallist, took bronze at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, won silver in the European Team Championships and placed 7th at the Senior European Championships. He was the Olympic reserve at 81kgs for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
Luke is a qualified BJA level 3 coach and EJU level 4 high performance coach. He has a FdSc in sports performance and was awarded the IJF Master Coach award in 2022. Luke holds a BSc in Social Psychology.
Since 2006, alongside his role at CJC, Luke has coached for both England and Great Britain at numerous major events including European and World Championships, the London 2012 Olympic Games, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games where he was lead coach for Team England. He was also proudly chosen as Team Jamaica coach for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Coaching highlights include Olympic bronze, senior World silver, four European senior medals and four Commonwealth Games gold medallists.
