Dr Ali Hussain

Ali qualified in 2001 from the United Medical and Dental School (UMDS) of Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals, London. After completing his vocational training year, he worked as a Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeon at several hospitals across the UK, passing examinations and at the same time gaining his membership of the Royal College of Surgeons. Ali then spent several years working for the Community Dental Service, treating patients with complex medical problems as well as extremely nervous and dental phobic patients, thus gaining experience in Dental Sedation, in which he is now a member of The Society for Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry. He focused on Oral Surgery carrying out regular general anaesthetic lists at Bexhill Hospital. He undertook and completed his Master's degree in Dental Implantology from Guy's Hospital London in 2009. He is happy to treat patients needing both general dentistry and more complex procedures such as implants, surgical extractions, bone grafts, sinus lifts and IV sedation. Ali is joint partner/owner of Little Common Dental Practice with his sister Sela Hussain.

Jemma qualified as a dental hygienist from the University of Essex where she was commended during her placements as being a gentle and caring clinician. She enjoys helping dentally anxious patients gain confidence in attending appointments. Prior to this she worked as a dental nurse for 6 years in varying sectors such as the military, NHS and private practice, where she gained her certificate in Oral Health Education, which helped her decision to progress her career further as a dental hygienist. Her passion for patient care and education continues to grow and develop.

Mr Michael Smith

Michael is dedicated to providing his patients with a top-quality denture service. Little Common Denture Care, Clifton Chambers, Little Common Road, Bexhill, is the sister practice to Little Common Dental Practice. Patients can be assured they will receive a dedicated and professional service. Michael has had over 30 years' experience at treating patients requiring dentures and has been registered as a Clinical Dental Technician with the General Dental Council UK since August 2008. Michael prides himself in keeping up to date with all the latest techniques and highest standards of cross infection control to give patients piece of mind. He and all our team believe the best form of customer service is to listen to the patients' needs, ensuring a friendly, approachable, quality experience at Little Common Denture Care. The service is available to walk-ins, same day emergency appointments and referred patients requiring repairs, additions or construction of new dentures. All work is carried out on the premises by Michael.

Mr Raghu Hari

Hari graduated in 1994, from the DR MGR Medical University, Tamilnadu, India. He then went on to enroll in a three year full time masters programme and in 1998 obtained his MDS in Paediatric dentistry. He subsequently worked as a University Senior Lecturer for 2 years, whilst working part-time in private practice. In 2001, he worked as a Specialist registrar for the Paedodontics and Endodontics department in a speciality hospital, in the Middle East under the Ministry of Health. In 2004, he continued to pursue a higher training and worked as a Senior Dental Officer in the Maxillofacial departments at Eastbourne, Brighton and Exeter hospitals. During this time he obtained his MFDS RCS. (Membership of the faculty of Dental Surgery and Royal College of Surgeons) Since 2004 Hari, has worked locally in Eastbourne, providing high quality dentistry. During his time, he also worked as a Senior Dental Officer with the Special Care Dental Services, treating patients requiring surgical dentistry and IV sedation. He has been a member of SAAD since 2005 (Society for the advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry. Hari is interested in Endodontics and Restorative dentistry, along with Paediatric dentistry. With his vast experience in surgical dentistry and Special Care Dentistry, he happily treats children, nervous patients and patients with special needs. He also offers Invisalign or Smiletru aligner systems for patients with simple orthodontic cases to improve people's smiles.

Mrs Sheila Whittaker

Sheila qualified as a Hygienist from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1986, where she was awarded the Oral B Cup, for achieving the highest marks in the UK in her final exams. She has had a long , varied career which she has enjoyed immensely, working and providing Hygiene treatments in a variety of NHS and Private practices throughout England. She has now settled in Eastbourne, and we are very lucky to have her working within our team.

Ms Sela Hussain

Sela graduated in Dentistry from UMDS of Guy's and St Thomas's Dental Hospital, London in 1999. Thereafter, she worked as a house officer in Oral Surgery and Restorative Dentistry at Guy's Hospital. Following this she spent a year as a vocational trainee, then a spell in general dental practice where she obtained both her MFGDP and MFDS, before returning to hospital as a Senior House Officer in Restorative Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Hospital in 2002. She then underwent her Specialist Registrar training in Restorative Dentistry, whilst undertaking an Eastman Conservative Dentistry Masters programme in 2003/4, which she passed with distinction. Sela was awarded Fellowship in Restorative Dentistry in November 2007 and is on the Specialist Register for Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, Periodontology, Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry. She was appointed Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Hospital in January 2008 and Queen Mary's Sidcup in October 2009, which became part of King's College Hospital in October 2013. She lectures widely. Sela has extensive experience restoring complex restorative cases for patients who suffer from tooth wear, hypodontia or have missing teeth with, crowns, bridges or dentures, as well as Implant therapy. She also accepts referrals for patients requiring periodontal treatment both non-surgically and surgically, as well as patients requiring endodontic treatment and surgical endodontics. She is happy to see self-referred patients for a consultation, as well as receive referrals from general dental practitioners regarding any restorative cases, requiring a specialist opinion.
