Brij Rajbhandari

Expertise: Trip Management, Customer Service, HR Administration, Correspondence, and Supervising Reservations Brij Rajbhandari joined Makalu Adventure in 2015. He was born and raised in Kathmandu and is a member of the Newar ethnic group. Historically Newars are farmers, artisans and retail traders; and some occupy high political and administrative posts. Brij has always been passionate about the mountains and has explored many regions of the Nepal Himalaya. Since joining Makalu Adventure he has gained knowledge of the Nepal Tourism Industry and is now a leading member of the Makalu team where he is responsible for trip management, HR administration, correspondence, accommodation reservations and customer care. Along with his responsibilities at the office Brij continues his education and has a master's degree in business administration.

Mr. Laxman Lamsal

Mr. Laxman Lamsal is the Managing director of Makalu Adventure Tours and Travel. He along with 9 other staffs have been managing the Tours and Travel section since 2000. Makalu Tours and travels is specialized for domestic as well as international ticketing. Makalu Treks offers ticketing services using the Amadeus, Abacus & Galileo. Under the management of Mr Lamsal, this company is now associated with IATA, NATA, PATA, and German Chamber of Commerce. Besides ticketing, Mr Laxman Lamsal and his team also conduct sightseeing tours for all our groups within Nepal. Recently under the initiative of Mr Lamsal, we have been conducting outbound tours for Nepalese people, mainly to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Europe, U.S.A. and other South Asian destinations.

Mohan Lamsal, the owner and Director of Makalu Adventure, always adds his personal touch and care to the details to ensure that nothing is overlooked and all your needs are met. He has been in the trekking and tour business for 28 years and has acquired a vast range of knowledge and experience. He has served as General Secretary of TAAN ‘Trekking Agency Association of Nepal' and is a member of NTB ‘Nepal Tourism Board' and NATA ‘Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agencies'. Mr. Mohan Lamsal founded Makalu Adventures in 1998. Having worked with another trekking office for 10 years. His main aim is providing highly professional and personalized service to all his clients and cater to the various needs and demands of the client. An adventurer by nature, Mohan has trekked all regions of the Nepal and Tibet Himalaya; his aim to identify logistic challenges and the feasibility of new trekking routes. Mohan Lamsal founded Makalu Adventures in 1998 having worked with another trekking agency for 10 years and carried with him a depth of knowledge and experience. Makalu Adventure aims to provide the highest level of advice, planning and service. An adventurer by nature, Mohan has trekked all regions of the Nepal and Tibet Himalaya; his aim to identify logistic challenges and the feasibility of new trekking routes. In 2016 Makalu Adventure announce two new routes, the Limi Valley Trek in far western Nepal and a new route from Nar Phu to Lo Manthang over the Teri La pass. Mohan also pioneered the Lhasa to Kathmandu Mountain Bike Tour. The Trekking Agency Association of Nepal is a body that represents all trekking agencies in Nepal and Mohan was elected to the key post of General Secretary for 2011 to 2013, he later became the Treasurer of the association. Roy Francis

Roy was a British Special Forces soldier, Joint Service Mountain and Expedition Leader. In 1976 he was a member of the British Army Mt. Everest expedition which put two members on the summit on 16 May...his mother's birthday. Roy joined the British army in 1971 and served for 22 years, 12 years with Special Forces, where he was awarded the Military Medal (MM) and Mentioned in Dispatches (MID). While in the army Roy qualified as a Rock Climbing Instructor, Canoe Instructor, Mountain Leader, Expedition Leader, Jungle Leader and Far from Help Medic. In 1976 Roy was a member of the British Army Mt. Everest expedition which put two members on the summit on 16 May...his mother's birthday. Roy was a member and leader of many military expeditions to Canada, India, Nepal and Tibet. His passion was exploring remote valleys and scaling unclimbed peaks in the Indian Himalaya, including the first ascent of KR1 and KR3. He was elected Fellow of The Royal Geographic Society (FRGS) for his exploration of remote areas of the Indian Himalaya bordering Tibet. Having retired from the army in 1993 Roy founded Pilgrim Expeditions, an adventure company which gave young people the opportunity to develop themselves in the mountains of Canada, India and Nepal. Now retired Roy is president of Aide Nepal Magnoac, a charity supporting orphans and disabled children in Nepal. Roy still leads treks in Nepal and advises the Makalu Adventure team on operational matters and safety. Sanu Sherpa

Sanu Sherpa, a resident of Makalu Valley, is a celebrated mountaineer and guide who has climbed all the fourteen 8,000m peaks, not once, but twice! It may be some time before another mountaineer matches Sanu's record. Sanu has been working with Makalu Adventure as a leading mountain guide since 1998.
